** Fantom-S owners PETITION **

As a owner of a Fantom-S and a Roland power user, I'm asking Roland corp to continue the support Fantom-S trought OS update.
My workstation turn 1 year old recently and you made it clear at NAMM that it's already forgoten.

Please at least include trough a future OS update the Multisample edition feature and a reworked files management.

Roland clearly monitor Fantomized.info wich keep getting more and more popular, so united we may be listen.

I too as a Fantom S-88 owner, petition to ensure that at least some facsimile of support is continued at least until all the issues that were promised in advertisements and the owner's manual are reasonably resolved. I am resolute in my position and prepared to go beyond a mere petition if necessary.

I am happy with the quality and performance of my FS, and the OS releases Roland has made to date. I am please with the level of professionalism from the roland techs I have spoken to (Roland Canada). Thanks Roland.

I would also like my 9month old Fantom S to be supported with OS bug fixes and, if technically possible and business feasible, with OS enhancements.

A quality workstation should not have the support lifespan of a mayfly. I think a 5 year support plan is viable -- year 1-3 is active support and development, years 4-5 see one annual bug fix release if necessary.

I am not sure what the official position is, only reports from NAMM. Perhaps a note from Roland politely stating "Bugger Ye Off, Fantom S owners" would also go far in clarifying the situation.

For those who are seriously miffed, Roland could offer a FS+$$$ trade up? My experience with trade ups has been you end up paying WAY more than you should.

[I have since purchased other equipment but made a conscious decision not to purchase Roland as a result of the strategy Roland has adopted to Fantom S owners. Why not offer a free upgrade to the FX v1.0 from all the unsold FX v 1.0 stock that will be around after 31 Mar?]

My FS was purchased under a promise from Roland re updates, and at a monetary sacrifice for one on a pension (in other words, a trade-in to an X cannot even be considered). I love my FS and I have admired Roland for years and would hate to see my "love affair" compromised. One would think that a company of Roland's size could monetarily afford to keep FS owners happy with updates, etc.

I'm with you. I love Roland can't see myself with anything else.

I knew damn well the Fantom-S was out of date, when I got it.
But it is my understanding the basic structure of the S is the same as the X. what works in the X, will work in the S(Hardware limitations noted. Memory access, and polyphony cannot be upgraded through OS.)
If they make an 8 track option for the X that you have to pay for, why can't they make a "pay for" option for S owners.

Plus things like the sample editor, and the Multi-Sample editor that X owners will be getting with the OS upgrades, which writes to the Fantom language, and operates on a PC. That would be nice to have. I want it. If the Ver2 upgrade costs $50, I may buy it just for those.

Beeing a X7 owner and long time Roland lover for many years, as I state often, and althought satisfied with my keyboard, I support completly this petition cause I recognize the reasons for it.

To Roland : Come on guys, we just want you to complete support this and future products and make even better ones.

I'm in full agreement to this petition.

I like my Fantom-S's alot too, but I I also feel that that the S was never supported properly.

I pre-ordered my S88 when it first came out and based on the marketing material and direct communication with Roland, I belived that it had 'in-track sampling' - a biggie for me.

I strongly believe that it would be proper to offer a Ver 2 upgrade for the Fantom-S. It seems to me that if they can do it for the X with no additional hardware, that some kind of similar upgrade for the S may be possible. I would be happy to pay for it.

As far as I can tell, they have nothing to lose, and lots to gain. As an original S owner, I for one am not prepared to trade up for an X for a number of reasons. I think that's a key point for them to realize.

On an up-side, I'm glad to see the annoucement of a new SRX, and hope to see more.

Also, as already said, it would go a long, long way for them to step up and comment. They're the only one of the big 3 who doesn't.

Again, I'd like to stress that I would pay.

It's something that should have been done already.

I purposely haven't been buying any other Roland gear, and don't plan on getting an X.

Updating the S would help change my attitude.

i file my petition, and also raise you a NO BUY (boycott of sorts) form with roland, BOSS, Edirol, rodgers, and any other name they want to mask themselves under. (no matter how neat the FR-7 looks) at the top of that list

i would be happy if all roland did was to fix ALL known bugs, and be able to offer us some sort of upgrade to the system like they can do with the FX, im sure the FS's boards can still handle some additional features.

...quick question, does an SRX card add any poly to the system at all. or remove workload of the board...
if so , why does roland not offer a few boards that give the S a boost , in either proc power, or poly and/or the multitrack features...
...if not, ignore the last statement :-p
