i hope there will be further infos out soon, and the website from roland about the v-synth gt will be updated soon too. i wish the owners manual would be online, so i can read what is really inside of the gt.

please mr stout, give us all the infos you have :)

for example, what about polyphony and multitimbrality? and does roland increased the sample storage. only 16,5mb on the old v-synth was terrible...

can´t wait to see what ap can do...

Am I the only one hoping for an update for 2003 V-Synth or anything like a VC-3 card?

I'm also hoping this means some kind of VC-3 card is coming out. Will the current VC cards work in the new V-Synth?

I bought the original V-Synth just recently and really like it. But honestly spoken I wouldn't expect any upgrade for it at the moment. Some additional card would be fine however, but I like it as it is.

I think there's always some hysteria when a new product hits the market. But I doubt that the new GT will bring a major change to musical structures and emotion. Basicly good music is very simple.

I like the V-Synth for it's excelent basic sound quality. It's already there. That's why I wouldn't buy the new (and probably overpriced) GT right now. I don't use the more excentric sounds very often anyway. Nevertheless it's lot of fun to have a toy to play with, creating some sound from outer space before breakfast... pirx

Jim Stout:

Cool. I hope that my skepticism doesn't rankle you. I've been playing synths for about twenty years, and have watched them come and go. This one looks very cool though. I only wish that I could physically pick it up!!! (Looks heavy... really, REALLY heavy...)

And expensive.

I'm impressed though. I think that Roland has a lot of good products this year; I've been carrying on about this new Edirol PCR line, and I'm hoping to get one soon.

Thanks for the information. Take care.

Good night, and good luck.

wonder why roland keeping us in a little suspense? like can we save to an external hard drive ,what is the polyphony, how much ram can it take, and what version are they starting out with? as far as an upgrade for the (giving it a new name if artimio approve's it) the v-classic goes it's probably not gonna be one,the processor in the new one is different, but keep hope alive!

Darn, I knew it... any educated estimates for a numeric mapping of "few"? :)

Dude -- if YOU took those pics, I'm impressed. I'm impressed anyway. I'm ESPECIALLY impressed by how many apparent manufacturers there are who still produce stuff with knobs and banana plugs and the like. This is really cool.

I'm just amazed at how much of what is in those photos reflects a real retro-vibe. Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Sorry to disappoint you, but these are not my pics. I just found then on google :) But I do agree, this NAMM was the best one in a very loooong time.
