Hi,
To reproduce it:
- turn on Juno-G
- push audio track button
- push rec button
- start recording
- wait over 20 measures at default 120bpm (30 just to be sure)
- push stop button
My Juno-G resets instantly after last step. However I can import longer wav files without a problem and they will play in audio recorder corectly.
It will reset at around the same time at different tempo (after 10 measures at 60bpm or 40 measures at 240bpm and so on).
Can you reproduce it on your Junos G? Mine has Version 1.05 of firmware.

Re: My Juno-G can not (bug?) record longer audio takes as it
Did you expand your sampling and storage memory? If not, you will not be able to record more than about 25 seconds of audio into it, as it features only 4 MB RAM. You need to buy a PC133 DIMM board for RAM (128...512 MB) and a PC card to CF adaptor with a CF card (128...512 MB).
Re: My Juno-G can not (bug?) record longer audio takes as it
Yes. I have 512MB dimm installed already. And I can load many (and long) samples without problems. I can not just record a take longer than around 1 minute.
And I have 1GB compact flash with a proper PC card adapter too. I said already I can import and use long samples (what would be impossible without memory expansion). I just can not record longer takes at once because my Juno-G resets then.

Re: My Juno-G can not (bug?) record longer audio takes as it
I have the feeling that your RAM chips are faulty. Maybe the Fantom writes to another area of memory when it samples compared to when it loads samples from card. If possible, try another set of RAM chips.

Re: My Juno-G can not (bug?) record longer audio takes as it
The problem is I don't have another sdram dimm to check it. And I can not check that memory in any other PC. So far imported samples are playing without errors so I can assume the memory is intact. I try to remove dimm and clean contacts and put it again.I have the feeling that your RAM chips are faulty. At least I know you don't have such issue so it must be something wrong with my setup. Fortunately I wasn't going to use my J-G as multitrack recorder anyway (only for some audio looping) so it's not a major problem. Yet the one which I'd like to not worry about.
Re: My Juno-G can not (bug?) record longer audio takes as it
If the chips are faulty, you should get the same behaviour when loading samples. Just load enough samples to fill available RAM 100%.

I'm just doing that and after removing and putting memory back no resets so far...If the chips are faulty, you should get the same behaviour when loading samples. Just load enough samples to fill available RAM 100%.
It would be nice to have a memory check option in utitlity menu thought.
edit: resets are back (!!!) - I have no idea what is wrong...

I can record as many audio takes as I like they just have be under 20 measures at 120bpm and there are no resets. If a recording take is longer then there is a reset (for 95 percent of time).
What is imported (or recorded without a reset) save, load and play just fine. I filled whole memory just for a test and got just an error message then.
The problem shows only when recording longer audio clips. If a ram memory would have a fault then it should reset no matter how long take was recording, right? There should be also errors in samples whatever their source are. There are none.
Edit2:
There are no resets when recording in mono mode so far no matter how long it takes.
Bizzare... I will examine the dimm sdram more closely as perhaps it's not CL2 at 100Mhz however it's a new dimm so it's very unlikely.
edit3:
Got an ancient PC and removed 64MB sdram dimm from it. Installed in my Juno-G and... it works like a charm!
Unfortunatelly I can not test previous memory - it might be alright and J-G was just picky about it? Or it was really a weird bug (there weren't any errors in samples and when recording in mono there weren't any resets!)??
Had anyone a dimm module which was without errors yet it couldn't work properly in Fantoms/Juno-G?
No matter now.
Re: My Juno-G can not (bug?) record longer audio takes as it
Hi!
Yesterday I tried recording in stereo for about 80 bars at 120BPM ant it worked seamlessly.
The behaviour you describe is really strange, but if another DIMM works in your unit, I'd say that it should be a problem with de previous one. Be sure it follows the specifications requiered by Roland:
Package: 168-pin DIMM
Feature: SDRAM, PC100 or PC133
DIMM Type: Unbuffered
Error Checking: Non-parity or Non-ECC
Speed: 100 or 133MHz
Voltage: 3.3V
I use a 512MB Kingston module, and works great. I recommend you this brand because of it's lifetime warranty.
Best regards.
