Post by X6_10Z »

Hi,
I just open this threat to see which patches people find more usuables/likeables that they added on their favorites patches menu. Comments really appreciated.

Very funny Artemio.... very funny....

I am serious. Instead of navigating and testing all the patches it would be of great help to know what most people use as favorites.

The only realy usable patches are real instruments
like piano guitar etc...

all others just dont enspire

i have never heared anyone here point to a single preset that is not a real instrument and say
its a kicker!

and most of them are slow attacks with no punch

now i have come accross one or 2 GM sounds that you would like to tweak but guess what?

You cant (how silly is that?)

I will be very surprised if anyone responds favorably

and i think art WAS being Serious when he said INIT PATCH

X6_10Z,

I don't exactly start with 'INIT PATCH', but after I read the topic I went back and looked at about 5-6 of my SVQs and what patches I used in them.

Know what? I had tweaked every one of them. Out of about 25-35 different patches I had either tweaked them a little, or tweaked them a lot and renamed them completely.

The cool thing is that 'tweak data' for each Patch is saved with the SVQ, so I could leave them there and not worry about it when I recall the SVQ.

I tweak Rhythm Kit hits: mainly attack and velocity, and layering kicks, snares, etc.. I tweak patch attack, sustain, panning, filtering, and on and on. When I'm doing my tunes, I like having control over the texture and so forth of the sounds.

So I can't say that I have any favorites, except the ones I make. The tweaking capablities of the Fantom are my 'favorite'. I know this is not what you're looking for, and I do understand the intent of your thread. I'm just saying what I do. . . . . . .

For a non-real instrument, machine strings is nice.

I find the acoustic guitar patches are real fun to play.

All my favorites are stuff on my card. None of them are presets, although some of them are based on presets.

By hearth (X not at hand atm):

C92, Dirty Voltage, with a tad higher cutoff though
G68, Bon Voyage is similar, if I recall correctly

Both don't go very well in mixes though, they're rather over the top'isch.

C70, Tristar
F81, Mysitc Gtr
H120, Skydiver

And some random stuff depending on whether or not it fits the track I'm working on :) The only sounds I hardly ever touch are the trumpets/horns etc.
