I have 3 rack mounts :
--Proteus 2500
--Proteus 2, orchestral
--Fantom Xr
Running Cakewalk pro through Windows XP (INtel 4)
My midi channels have to be match in order to play the three of them.
In the Emu synths is very easy to turn off (or on)any channel...
For some reason I haven't find any area in the Fantom, that allowes me to do the same...
Thanks

fantom xr....performance problem
Re: fantom xr....performance problem
Each part in a Fantom XR performance can be set to a MIDI channel (multiple parts can be set to the same channel). There is a choice to receive or ignore MIDI messages per part. Thus although you cannot exactly turn on or off MIDI channels, you can turn on or off parts, which are assigned to a MIDI channel.
It's in the part edit menu where you will find the option of which MIDI channel each part is assigned to, and whether or not to receive MIDI messages.
The MIDI menu allows you to choose how much MIDI data is looked at per channel.
Thus, for example, let's say you wanted to ignore pitch bend on channel 1. You would set that in the MIDI menu. Then let's say parts 1, 2, and 3, were all set to MIDI channel 1 (for a layered piano sound). Then all of those parts would ignore pitch bend, since you told MIDI channel 1 to ignore pitch bend.
Hope that helps.

Re: fantom xr....performance problem
Another way to do it: I created a user sound patch called "001: silent" that has no sound information in it. In performance mode I assign this patch to any channel I don't want to make a sound. That way I know which channel is not going to make sound just by looking at the patch assigned to the that channel.
