Hi Guys,

Now I like to use more than 2 oscs in a patch. Now I know the v-synth can do this, I can create multiple 2 osc patches and load them into different parts and set th Rx Ch on each part to the same. Viola > 2 oscs.

Of course editing this setup is a nightmare as I can only edit the patch in Part1.

Now if I use zones I can edit all the patches zone by zone, very nice but I cannot have overlapping zones, arhhhh!

Now are roland missing something here by stopping us doing this or am I mad?

Cheers

I agree with you, multi-timbral functionality is NOT very flexible in V-Synth. It is further more limited by the fact that only, Part 1 patch can be edited from V-synth's interface.

- A work around would be to assign the patches you need to different parts in V-Synth info page and dump this setup into your sequencer (a required step to save your settings). After doing all of this, you can send SysEx messages from your sequencer to V-Synth to edit different patches on their respective channels/parts. Most importantly, keep in mind that you will reach max polyphony (24) very quickly and would notice drop outs in voices.

- I know that this is not the exact solution but you can also assign different patches to different zones and play multiple zones simultaneously and sample the resulting sound in V-synth as and tweak this sample and create your customized patches with it (and share it with everyone here :-)

My advice to you, use V-synth as a sound designing tool, rather than a workstation. Like I mentioned before, I agree with you.

What you have is two oscillators, but there are detunable sub-oscillators for most analog waveforms, so 4-osc analog patches are possible.

Ahhh... deja Vu!
I already went through this phase and ended up dumping the V for all those reasons and any other fustrations you finaly discover as i did.
And yes i aggree its a designer tool not a workstation.

Well I must admit I don't want to dump my v-synth I quite like it.

I also disagree with you Atemio, I have more than 2 oscs its just hard for me to use them. In theory I have 16x2 oscs = 32 although I am sure it would choke at this!

All I am really after is for roland to allow overlapping zones or to allow editing of different parts from the unit if that is not possible.

I am happy just having the 1 fx section across all zones/parts as I only ever want to play one instrument at a time.

All the best

I can safely say there is no chance of getting overlapping zones any time soon.
why?
Because from what i can see across the range, roland deliberately make there products distinctively different from each other so as to keep there old product line alive.
If they where to migrate all similarities to the next level of product it would kill there current line and they would have alot of old stock which they either cant sell or will have to drop dramatically in price.
and if they gave you over lapping zones you would`nt need to have a fantom ;-)
