vst support for v-synth.
vst support for v-synth.
so, if roland has implimented vst support for the new sh-201, what are the chances that in a future os upgrade for the v-synth, that they would impliment vst support, so that you could use the v-synth as a plugin and control it with the hardware, within live or cubase ?? is it possible? i'm not sure the keyboard is "equipped" so to speak, but the xt is halfway there, with the usb audio streaming. just the thought of this makes me drool.
Re: vst support for v-synth.
What would be the advantage of this?
Re: vst support for v-synth.
All V-Synth params available as vst params for automation/editing whould be an advantage.

Re: vst support for v-synth.
which parameters do you miss in my device map for instance? I can look into it, if it's interesting for automation then i can add them if you can tell me which params you miss now and really want during your automation process

Hi Robinez,
What I really miss is the params not coming from the V-Synth when you change patches, with a roland vst plugin hopefully this would work.

Re: vst support for v-synth.
ah
i understand. Indeed not possible yet.
I don't know if you know this little trick:
if you use the devicemap and you use midi all for the midi in on that cubase track, then you can control all the devicemap automation with your hardware. If you 'arm' the R W buttons on the device map, you will be able to write realtime automation for those specific parameters all at once with your hardware vsynth. No need to use the mouse at all.
The best part of that is that when you are done tweaking, you can modify your automation in cubase the way you used to do.
Not exactly what you want , but definitly a timesaver which most people don't know.

Re: vst support for v-synth.
also It would work with "Live 5" as well, this would be nice!

Re: vst support for v-synth.
total recall of all parameters (without having to write edits made to a patch), complete integration within the host, easier editing of parameters, faster patch editing, use the v-synth as a plug in to process another track. a lot of things that you can already do with the v-synth but in an easier, more organized way.
i don't know shit about the technical aspects of any of this, as i'm just a dumb stoner, but ideally what i would love to see if they did go this route, is -- since the v-synth is a soft synth packaged in dedicated hardware, couldn't roland create a duplicate vst instrument that does exactly what the hardware does but uses your computer's resources to do so. so you could access 20 gigs of variphrased samples from your harddrive if you wanted to. no more of the 50 mbyte per project limitations that a lot of us bitch about. you could run multiple instances on separate tracks (no more having to share master fx when trying to use the v in a multitimbral setup). you could use the v-synth connected via usb to control the plugin in real time (obviously only one instance at a time). i think all of us would pay a lot of money for an os upgrade/ software like that. it would help solve or at least offer an easy work around to a lot of the little things that irritate us all about the v-synth. it's got to be possible. there's already a "vari phrase" plugin for vocals that comes with the new cakewalk software. i love this synth more than the rest of my studio combined. the one thing that i don't like about it is that it is just too hard and sometimes impossible to use the v on more than one track per song, unless you print and overdub. which just isn't the way i'm used to working with synths. i write better sounding mistakes and work a lot faster when i tweak sounds together, instead of one at a time. just a dream i hope comes true some day.

Re: vst support for v-synth.
I have sonar 5 (pe) and the v-vocal thing is phenomenal. It makes it much easier to use variphrase for certain things, a vst v-synth would just be the icing on the cake.
ps If you get the chance try sonar 5 I am blown away by it.
