Noisy output

Post by cypher »

I just purchased a V-Synth XT and the output from the Main Out Jacks has a droney kind of noise... almost like it's from a motor! The output from the headset jack (into my headphones) is crystal clear, what I was expecting from the Main Out Jacks. I also have a Kurtzweil K2500 and an Emu XL-7 which are going into my Mac via a Digidesign 001. The K2500 is a tad noisey, the Emu, very clear. The V-S is plugged into a UPS.

I would expect the newest latest and greatest synth to be exceptionally clear. Anyone experience anything similar? Do you just think I've got a bad V-Synth or could I be overlooking something?

u probably have that switch under the mic input set to HI-Z,,,set this to normal if so....

u only need that if u have a guitar jacked in.

other than that, I don't get any noise, unless I have the main volume cranked, then u can hear a faint whitenoise type of sound...but hardly anything at all.

Thanks for your replies Septimo & sb1.

I haven't used the mic jack for input so I don't think it's from that. The noise IS most notable when I crank the levels but it didn't sound as bad when I ported it into Garage Band on my laptop... still not sure if there's a problem with the unit or my digidesign 001...

I will have another listen tonight and see if I can hear anything. It doesn't seem noisier than any other average piece of kit tho'.

Hmmm. Well if you wind up the output and amp (and nearly wreck your speakers accidentally!) I can hear a bit of something on some patches after a note has been played and decayed . eg V-screamer. Seems to come from the fx section - try turning MFX1 off and see whether that helps.
