Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
This may be well know already but it was news to me. I recently picked up a V-synth and was researching the VariOS. I figured that since they both use VariPhrase then I should be able to use the VariOS 303 and JP8 patches in the V-Synth.
And what do you know, it worked!! I now have the VariOS 303 and JP8 patches in my V-synth and they sound Great!
Sorry if this is old info!!

Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
OK, so where do I get these patches?
Thanks,

Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
I wonder how would you do that. VariOS303 and VariOS8 are software applications that are loaded into the module - but not just patches.
Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
Maybe he is refering to the JP and TB patches that were part of the free patches that are available for download at Rolands V-Synth website?

Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
By the way, VariPhrase is sample manipulation technology, and has nothing to do with analogue modeling. VariOS 303 and 8 don't use VariPhrase but analogue modeling, which is proprietary to the software applications available with VariOS. Maybe someday Roland will make these same apps available for V-Synth on V-Cards, but, until then, saying that you can load 303 or 8 patches from VariOS ito V-Synth is like saying you can load D-50 patches into JV-80 (e.g. rubbish).
Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
My Bad! It's not because of Variphrase, thanks for clarifying artemio! I believe it has to do with the fact that the V-synth and the VariOS both have the same Software in them that Allows them to use VCards. This led me to believe that I could interchange patches between them and I was correct!
HOW-TO:
Go to http://www.rolandus.com/products/detail ... ageMode=13
and download the 303 and JP8 software. Once you have it downloaded, unzip it and extract the .prj folder. Just copy this folder to the vsynth and your done! Enjoy.

Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
I just checked those patches out: they are duplicates of those found in the Analogue Collection (http://v-tribe.info/downloads/roland/V- ... nalog1.zip).

V-Synth Patches into VariOS
So I wonder if you can load V-Synth synth patches into the VariOS?
so...
does that mean that the analog collection patches for the V-Synth and the VariOS "software" are the same in general? i'm getting confused on what the VariOS is, more and more. Is there anything the VariOS does that would make it worth owning if you already have a V-Synth XT?
(and i really wish they'd update the stats and stop advertizing falsely: "More VariOS applications to be announced" and the VCards)

Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
to try and answer a few of these in one go:
- V-synth and VariOS share same processor.
- I remember mr roland US (is his name Alan) saying the two VariOS emulations are earlier than the v-synth software version so the ones included with V-synth will sound better.
- makes sense that patches work on either but some may not.
If you have a v-synth of any type your only missing: 1U rack form factor (may or not be convienent) another way to run a V card and the VariOS's buggy sequencing software V-Producer.
It took me a long time to get to work around the bugs in V-Producer and get the most out of the software. Most v-synth users would probably laugh at how much effort it takes to get used to the sequencer. In an age of DAW software like Tracktion, Live and Cubase 4 the VariOS software isn't really worth learning...
Like any VariOS owner I wish they'd gone on with the concept. good bit of hardware with unfinished software.

Re: Use VariOS Patches in V-Synth - more Patches!
i guess then all i need to do is just focus on the V-Synth XT as a sampler/synth, which is what i hoped
