I have kind of worked my way into a combination of tweeking sounds and altering my playing style. When I first got the X6 I didn't understand how to change patches, hell even now I'm a complete amateur at it. But I can usually get what I want. On the other hand in many cases I have used pitch bending and aftertouch to get those stock patches to do stuff I never would have imagined possible when I first got the synth.

There was a time when I was seriously about to give up and buy some SRX cards. I'm really glad I didn't. Stick with it, work with what ya got there, and you'll start getting the hang of it.

Really liked the song Energizer!

Did you create all of it on the Fantom X itself, or did you use any softsynths on the PC?

Warmest regards,

Musikman

Camaro,

The Fantom is an amazing piece of equipment. It doesn't require you to upload portions of the soundtrack to "Mengaloth" and claim them as your own. :)

"Realism" and "expressiveness" works for only a certain degree. You still need good quality string samples. Taking mellotron strings and playing it "expressively" wont fool anybody. On the other hand, if you use any of the big "libraries" with good string samples, you might get a very good sound. Ofcourse, playing it expressively does help too, but only till a certain limit.

Agreed, fantom can do with a stronger string section. If you need better strings, get free soundfonts (or pay a small fee for a better orchestral soundfont pack) and convert them to fantom format.

Camaro,
wow! nice rythm guitar! It sounds real good. Before i ask you how you did it, i'm going to try something out, and if i cant make it, i'll ask you how you did it. And i'd be very happy/thankful if you answered. :-D
