choir/vocal patch

Post by JBros »

I used to have a vocal/choir patch on my O1/W that was very thick. I'd love to replace that patch on my Fantom now the old Korg has groundhogs delivering it's mail. The GM "ah's" are kinda thin. Does anyone know where I might find some thicker, meatier choir "ah's" without buying an SRX card? Thanks!

RECIPE TO THICKEN UP THE SOUND

Take one of the voxs you like

go to patch edit

pro edit

and down one on left column to wave (i think)

use your arrows to change the waves.
set all four waves to pads or ahhs or hmmms to get a really thick sound.

This keyboard is easy to make your own patches with. The great thing about doing it this way is you can hear the sound and keep flicking through waves to hear the changes.

Don't forget you can get the 1000xv patches for free also. Some of those are excellent.

I think the CHOIR sounds on the FX suck, I still use the ones on my RS-5 when I need Choir sounds in the studio...

In general, you can make any choir sound lush with Hexa Chorus MFX. Try increasing it's Rate and Depth a bit.

Also, don't want to sound commercial, but if you seek for non-SRX choir/vox sounds, please check out the Planet V sound library for Fantoms. In the main demo, first track, you'll hear a vox sound, and in the patches demo the last one shows another vox sound. Very soon I plan adding other more lush choir sounds and "too"-like vox sounds in the next Planet V update (which will be free for all Planet V owners as always).

thx da-man - good suggestions. I'll keep working on that. You mentioned the 1000xv patches for free. Where would I find those?

You'll find them here. Scroll to near the bottom of the list and you'll find them. There are 1024 Patches in the collection.
