INCOGNEETO,
Hello and congratulations on your recent marriage!
The short answer to your question is that the access and ability to read your Card will be unaffected. You'll like the upgrade; it adds a couple of other features and changes that are useful in addition to the Audio Tracks.

Just got MARRIED eh? Congratulations boy!! Where are the photos? Did you do a City Hall or church ceremony? Did you have fun removing the garter and flipping it to all the single guys? Do you realize that from this day forward, all of your free time will be taken up with things like "honey, could you please help me here a minute?" and honey, there are a few things that I need you to do." And your days of leaving the old toilet seat up are completely over!!
As for your ver. 2.0x questions, you do not need to worry, everything relating to the CF cards will be the same, just make sure to completely back up your data prior to upgrading. You will love all the new patches and the audio tracks and the new display screens. I upgraded my Fantom several months ago and I've had no CF card problems, in fact no problems at all. Go for it, you'll love it!
And don't forget, WE WANT WEDDING PHOTOS!!

WHAT!! You've NEVER backed-up your data?? Is marriage ALREADY affecting your BRAIN!!!
Back-ups are simple and take only a few minutes. Restores are just as easy.
From page 235 in the manual:
1.Press [MENU].
2.Press or to select ?Utility.?
3.Press [ENTER].
The Utility menu screen will appear.
4.Press [F1]?[F4] to select the operation that you want to execute.
[F1 (User Backup)]: Save user data to a memory card.
[F2 (User Restre)]: Load user data from a memory card.
[F3 (Factry Reset)]: Restore the factory settings.
[F4 (Librarian)]: When you want to use the included Fantom-X Librarian software, or when you want to receive system exclusive messages from an external device to rewrite the user memory, press [F4 (Librarian)] to put the Fantom-X in Librarian mode. * For details on using Fantom-X Librarian, refer to ?Using Fantom-X
Librarian? (p. 236).
Here?s how all user data in the user area can be saved on a memory card.
The following user data will be saved.
? Performances ? Rhythm Groups ? Arpeggio styles
? Patches ? Multisamples ? Chord forms
? Rhythm sets ? Songs ? System settings
? Rhythm Patterns ? Samples
* In order to execute User Backup, the memory card must have approximately 32MB or more free area.
1.Insert a memory card into the slot.
2.In the Utility screen, press [F1 (User Backup)]. A message will ask you for confirmation.
3.To execute the backup, press [F8 (Exec)].
* To cancel, press [F7 (Cancel)].
It's that simple, now GO DO IT!!!
