Who will be the leader - Roland or Yamaha?
Who will be the leader - Roland or Yamaha?
Hello everyone:
I know I tend to "stir the pot" or "open up a can of worms" with a few of my posts - this one will be no different.
Question 1) Who do you believe will release a new workstation first? Roland or Yamaha.
Question 2) Will it continue the family line (e.g. Fantom Studio or Motif Studio) or will they start a new line?
Question 3) When (as a logical estimation) do you think they will release it? Winter NAMM perhaps?
I personally don't think Korg will release anything soon considering the Triton line is so huge. If nothing else, expect some attrition here.
While were at it - does anyone have the official release dates for the Roland Fantom X and Yamaha Motif ES? This should make scientific speculation somewhat easier.
Thanks for your patience - you all would make great doctors since you all have lots of patience. (patients... LOL)
Best,
Andrew

I, Don Philippo, will be your leader. And I order you to exclusively use Roland products. Yamaha is in the sewing machine and moped business. So unless you're a grandma with a Jack Kerouac dream, just follow me and obey my commands, OK?

Seems like I found myself a court composer.

Oh well...
Oh well, maybe we are just scared of the future. I brought this up after re-reading Sound On Sound's review of the Motif ES. Also, if you have the official Motif ES brochure you will notice words like "the best so far", and other future indicators like "yet" - hinting that something else is coming soon.
Does anyone have those official release dates of the Yamaha Motif ES or Roland Fantom X? Yes, I know they have been out for a while. I would just like to look at the time it took to release each model.
Best,
Andrew

You could do a google for that. A better question is when did the companies ' announce ' those products.
I think Yamaha announced the ES in August 2003. The ES was available in late Sept. If you look around this forum you can determine the Fantom X

Good point Greg
Thanks I will see what I can come up with. Thanks for the response and the info. Wow, it seems like yesterday when the Yamaha Motif ES was announced. Interesting to know. I do know that the Motif was released in late spring/early summer of 2001 and the EX5/EX7 were released in summer 1998.
So roughly a 3 year span before another flagship workstation is announced. Hmm. So if the Motif ES was announced in August 2003 - then 3 years would be... next year!
Thanks again!
Best,
Andrew
