SRX for worship?

Post by Squints2See »

Hello,

Im looking to purchase an SRX board for my X8. I'll eventually get more but for now can only afford one. Im primarily doing contemporary praise and worship so I use alo t of strings, piano, some brass, and electric piano. Im pretty happy with the ultimate grand on my X8 but cannot find an electric piano that I like at all. Im not really into the 70's Rhodes stuff, im looking for a more modern sounding ep. An example would be the nice modern ep sounds that you get on a Yamaha Clavinova or Roland's former Technics line of digital pianos.

Does any of the SRX cards have a modern ep sounds, and what would be the best card for my tastes?

Thanks,
Todd

SRX-07 has the most EP's. Tons of Organs and synths. Some of the EP's are the same sounding as the Fantom, some are different. I have some patches I think you will like for the standard Fantom waves and the SRX-07. I also have a few patches for the SRX-03 which has a couple Rhodes that have very little dynamics without tweeking them. I have promised to upload all of my patches, but have not done so yet. If you E-mail me I will try to get some to you. There are a couple I uploaded here before (see homepage, Patches., Adam Compeau), but quite a few improvements on my new patches, including footswitch control of tremelo and other FX.

A few pretty good brass patches on here as well, but not many strings. The ones on the Fantom are plenty usable or you would go with SRX-06 for all around strings and winds or SRX-04 for amazing string sections.

Totally agree with MadaHorn, the SRX 07 'Ultimate Keys' is the way to go - almost a 'must have'.

You will love the EP patch 010 'Inspiration' - it got that real spiritual feel to it, while 'Fusiontastic' is warm and ambient, but 'crunchy' and 'compressed' if you go hard and fast. You may also have a listen to the organs, there are some deeply spiritual B3's on this SRX.

I am finishing up my patches to upload today...It should include about 30 Rhodes. I will eventually include about 20 Wurly also. On my Fantom, I have assigned Chorus and FX1 to Assignable switches 1 and 2 to have those FX available without switching patches. I have incorporated Tremelo on every patch and assigned to Mod/Knob1/Footswitch.

You do not have to assign the switches/buttons to Chorus and FX, but if you do you will have easy access to FX on and off. A few of the patches require Chorus and or FX. They are marked with an asterisk.(one for FX and two for both FX and Chorus). Most of the patches have the FX1 as Phaser. Both Chorus and FX1 are automatically assigned to all of these patches unless you save them differently or just use the buttons to turn them on and off.

Props to MadaHorn- more of us should share our tweaked-out patches. I've got a guitar collection I'll try to up within a few weeks.

Rhodes patches are ready for anyone who emails me. I will also give to Art to put on site. These are in the Fantom X Librarian format.
