I have a FS I tried your instructions JC and I failed.
Proberly I need to know how to record sysex messages.
I did the volume but I only saw the volume values in mirco edit. nothing showed up for on and off.
Please help because this method makes live playing so much easier for me.

if you are using the fantom mainly for live, and regret having bought it, my advice would be to give the fantom X8 back (if you have that kinda return policy) and get a used Fantom S88.

seriously, for live work, there's hardly any difference between FX8 and FS88. i'd get the FS88 if i were you.

You need to have turned ON:
MENU->System->Receive->Receive Exclusive
MENU->System->Transmit->Transmit Edit Data
(dunno if it's the same menu on the Fantom S though)

Also if you really want to go in depth about this you might wanna check out this thread to see what's possible (with examples). NB you don't particularly need version 2.0 or a Fantom X to use these examples as I believe the Sysex implementation are exactly the same for the Fantom S.
