moving track data

Post by remy0326 »

In the song edit mode on the Fantom X, how do I move sequence data down. For example: I want to move some info in track 1 down maybe a couple of measures instead of just inserting a blank.

Being that you've had 2 weeks to go through your manual (where you will find your solution on page 188) it's a bit odd that you would not know how to do this by now.

Please take that a gentle nudge towards self-reliance. No other meaning is intended.

If you need further assistance, just ask.

Hi Remy,

Probably nobody answered this question because it the answer to it easily found in the manual. Take a look at page 188 in the manual. If you don't have the manual you can download a digital copy from rolandus.com.

Edit: Aw, shucks. Dansgold beat me to it. :-)

How come the Extract window does not have a destination measure. So where is it going to put the extracted data. At the beginning of track or at the same source measure. So extract does not resolve the guys problem.

Oh double-shucks. You are right energizer1389.

In order to move events, you need to first copy from the orignal position to the new position, and the erase the original.

Or, I guess you can use the 'Shift clock' function, but it is limited to shifting the notes maximum 10 quarter notes in either direction ( -4800 to +4800 ticks ).

Yep, sorry 'bout that. I saw "move the track down" and jumped to thinking you meant down as in "down to another track" Extract would do that, but not what you were really asking about.

tzoid is correct. It's just a simple copy/paste/move kindof thing.

Really though ... why is it that inserting blank measures won't work for you?

Guys you're confusing me... ;-)

COPY/PASTE/DELETE/MOVE ????

remy asked for a way to "move sequence data down". The best way is actually INSERT blank measures in the track (as "moving down" is actually "inserting blank space" isn't it ??). If you need to move 2 measures, insert 2 measures - that's it.
If you need to move less than a measure you can use SHIFT CLOCK. So if you need to move 2,5 measures you insert 2 measures and after that you SHIFT CLOCk 2400 CPT (1 measure = 4800 CPT)

He did actually say " I want to move some info in track 1 down maybe a couple of measures instead of just inserting a blank".

I didn't check to see if this had been said yet but: in microscope mode you can easily move track data as follows

1 go to the first event you want to move (it will be highlighted)
2 hold shift with your right thumb and with your right forefinger press the downarrow (cursor) and you will see events after the first one being selected (highlighted)
3 stop pressing the downarrow when all the track events you wish to move are selected.
4 let go of shifty and the cursor and press "move" in the function button area under the screen; select a position in the popup, and press exec

I figured this out long ago. I appreciate all of you who lent a helping hand. And for those of you that always have something smart to say. Don't get so worked up. I have read the manual. So people may do things on the fly and may not have the manual at that time.
