I was in a store this week looking to trade up my Fantom S or a Fantom X8. I have both a Fantom S and an S88.
At the store, they had both the X6 and the X8. One thing I noticed was that these floor models had noticable scratches on the screen and rubbing them with my finger, the scratches seemed to be permanent. The screens appeared to be marked up easy, and noticable when they were on.
Both of my FAS's screens seem very durable and are still in perfect shape.
I'm a little concerned about this and was wondering if anyone finds that the X screens mark up easy?

Fantom X screen - scratches?
Re: Fantom X screen - scratches?
Nothing special here, just the regular "dust removing" scratches but.. you see... I eat my nails
...just could not afford the 8!

colour display
No, the colour display is a big disappointment, at least for me. But the scratches you refer is not normal.

Re: Fantom X screen - scratches?
you're right.. no benefits with scratches. floor models being sold at full retail with scratches should be marked down.
my 2 cent for today.
by the way, what's wrong with having a color screen?
even the manual should be in color..

Re: Fantom X screen - scratches?
Thanks. I liked the color screen, just found the scratches to be distracting. Although honestly, I'm perfectly happy with the FAS screen. It's just other issues.
Maybe they were caused by some kind of unusual or abusive usage. I just thought it was wierd that they were both like that, and they're not even touchscreens.
I did think that the plastic material covering the X screens was really shiny and light reflective compared to the S and TS screens. My Triton Studio screen is still perfect after alot of use.
I might upgrade 'cause they'll give me quite a bit for my FAS, but am concerned a bit about the screen.

Re: Fantom X screen - scratches?
If it's real bad u can always order a new one from Roland..It'll cost u $5 bucks plus shipping, easy to replace...and the frame will cost u $10 bucks + shipping, but good luck replacin the that...
but don't let something as small as screen worries stop u from upgrading,,,Unless the screen is'nt the real issue holding u back....
I've takin my screen completely off to get rid of dust I blew into it with an air can! and still I have no scratches..

As far as floor models are concerned, What do u expect? u still gettin the full functionality of an FX, but your right trisk, they should mark them down the 5 bucks or so that it'll cost u to replace it...
