got my upgrade yesterday..so where is

the new sounds? i cant seem to find the new 128 patches? are they in the normal patch list or seperate? oh and before you wise off dansgold...i got no bites for my X8 on ebay or craigs list..so i am stuck

Sam, you never listed your X8 on eBay ... end of story.

Any one who wants to can check eBay, and see that almost every X8 listed on eBay within the past few weeks has sold at a good price.

As for your inability to find the new patches: They are listed clearly on the "list of newly added patches" sheet included in the Expansion Upgrade box.

It clearly shows you that you have 128 new patches in the new PR-I group.

Was is THAT hard to simply READ the included documentation, Sam?

MY OPINION: The new patches aren't all that great, really just more of the same. One exception is the "Chuk EP" patch, which is a really beefy, cutting, biting EP patch. (I have a feeling it was named after Chuck Monte, who did the famous "Dyno" upgrades to Rhodes and Wurlitzers)

There isn't anything in the documentation that suggests they've actually replaced or changed any of the waveforms, although they are clear about the fact that they have renamed some of the waves. I think this is more for some kind of compatibility or consistancy reason than anything else.

Subjectively, some of the analog-ish sounds seem subjectively better to me ... thicker, more lush, deeper or whatever ... but only by a little bit. That may be just my perception, but it's possible that there were minor changes in the software that may cause such a perception.

That auction shows that it completed, and the item sold, on March 3rd.

I also noticed that - on other forums - you say you live in "Mill Valley", but that the eBay auction lists "Fairfax" ... a few towns over.

So I guess we can add "liar" to your list of accomplishments.
