Ksounds Pianos

Post by Wazza »

Hi,

I was surfing the web yesterday and found some nice really pianos on www.ksounds.com .
Unfortunately these pianos are not available for the Fantom series,
So I emailed them and I asked them if it would be possible to release these pianos for the Fantom, He told me that he wasn't planning to release these pianos for the Fantoms, but he might consider it if many people were interested.
If any of you guys like these pianos we could make some sort of a petition :D.
Maybe then we can persuade him to release these pianos for the Fantom :).
Thanks in advance,

Greetz :),

I have the Ksounds samples on my Triton Studio 88 and they are really, really good. Actually, fantastic. The Steinway 75MB samples gave me goosebumps the first time I played it.

I also have the SRX02 & SRX11 in my Fanton S88. The Ksounds plays and sounds worlds ahead of any rompler and dedicated digi. pianos I've played. They are one of the best kept secrets out there and only $125.

Keven Spargo at Ksounds told me I could use the samples (I converted them to wav) to create a multisample for my Fantom since I have the licence.

But, the Fantom series is VERY difficult to work with as far as creating multisamples.

If I get a good Fantom mutisample editor (and the time), I will give it another shot.

If he did a Fantom set, I would order it immediately.

Ksounds volume 1 for the triton has four stereo pianos including Steinway, two Kawais and a Baldwin, along with electrics. The Volune 2 for Kurzweil is Kawai, but volume 1 for kurzweil has four acoustic pianos. There are Motif ES versions also. I play a triton studio with Ksounds. I hate waiting on the samples to load, but the sound is truly worth the wait. I hope the srx-11 lives up to the hype, I'd love to have the Fantom X7 as my main board and a great piano with no load time, but for now if i have to play only one board, it is the Triton for that Ksound Steinway.

Let me clarify. I like the ultimate grand. I have compared each note on both 76key keyboards (Roland and Triton with Ksounds) and an acoustic Steinway. The sampled sounds of the Ksounds and Roland are very similar, my subjective opinion is that the Roland articulates and is better in the lower octaves. The decay is much better on the Ultimate Grand from F6 upward. I prefer playing the KSounds because it seems to have smoother crossfades (even with just two samples on a key), and the upper harmonics when using higher velocities don't jump out, but sound more realistic or at least less obstrusive, metallic and artificial. For me it's about sound and playability. Believe me both are tremendous improvements over past rompler generations.
The musician makes the music, but a playable sound makes musical expression easier, and for me, more enjoyable.

I couldn't have said it better than OboeDoctor.

I've only tried the Fantom-X piano at a noisy music store once for a few minutes, so I don't really have any experience with it. I use a Fantom S88.

As far as the SRX-11, I'm using it tonight at a gig. Initially, I find the SRX11 velocity switching to be a little dramatic. I also found the ff's to be a little harsh and compressed.

I've made some modified patches to compensate for the velocity switching which seem more comfortable to my playing style.

My gig tonight is not in my solo piano setting, but I'll get a good idea on how it mixes with a blues/rock band.

I'll report back.
