Oh, yes, I forgot to tell you. If the 2.0 features for X series won't be back-ported to S series, I will ban all X users outta here, just of jealousy. Oh well. I can be cruel, I know.

In that case we'll just make sure Roland upgrades you to an "X" :-)

Tim: I could have easily swapped my S for an X at Roland Ukraine... but I didn't want to do that. However, we'll see what new appears in OS 2.0 and I may change my mind ;-)

But what about all the original pre-X 'FS' owners who made Art what he is? If he deserts his roots there might just be a revolution.... I feel drawn to the dark side of Motifator.....

Ooooh yes.... I really wish the FX had a vocoder effect (let's face it, it has the necessary hardware). Let's just hope someone said "Vocoder!!!!" when asked what they'd like to see on the Fantom.

Yea if Art goes over to the X side and leaves us S's behind then I am going to join Chick on the CASIO side. And you know if Chick and I were to start our own forum then...... well you know. Don't make me get my CASIO.

I really wish the Fantom pads were as versitile as the keypads were on my XP-60. I really wish that Roland would recognise that not everyone uses Fantoms as MPC-style grooveboxes. I really wish that Roland would give more than a passing thought to performers who want to use their Fantoms live. Expanding pad functions to include direct program changes and data entry functions should be a relatively easy software upgrade. Although it's too late for me and my FS, hopefully v2 will address this issue for FX owners.

Although that's likely true, I wish they would support us 'S' owners as we deserve. For me it would go a long way as far as customer loyalty and due support to update the 'S' as well. Correct a wrong if you will.

I would bet that the update will include automated 'in-track sampling'. As an 'S' owner, I will not be impressed if they only provide this to the X's.

Also, we should be entitled to buy an X-piano SRX option.

If they did both of these things, I think the bad taste in my mouth would be almost completely gone.

Art - your usually flawless logic has eluded me with that decision. Why would anyone pass up the opportunity to swap up to an "X", as long as money wasn't an issue?

zacko - you are not missing as much as you think by not having the "X" piano waves. I would be going for SRX-02 before I'd be going for an SRX that had the new "X" piano waves on it.

They could probably be able to uptade the S easily.
And I wish that they will not foget us.
What would be great from Roland is an OS upgrade for the S owner and the possibility to buy the X's 64 megs of rom.

All those are marvelous ideas. Except for piano's... ;-)

One thing I'm hoping for in the 2.0 OS is a bunch of delicious patches for you guys. For some reason, Roland felt happy to load up half their flagship instruments' memory with mundane patches for a few years now. Even my XV-3080 suffers this malady. The Triton has outstanding patches, and along with the delicious Yamaha keyboard sounds on the Motifs and S's, probably explains why you see more of them staring at you from keyboard stands across the globe.

To me it's a blessing, because I'm forced to program the sounds I want, and I enjoy the heck out of programming. Especially on Rolands because their roms are simply the best, and the filters and effects are terrific. But for the rest of you, I'm sympathetic. Roland really needs to host a few alternate patch banks on their website, because the Fantom is capable of some incredible sounds. The new X's really need to show off their sparkle factor.

I love the future
