And how is it used by Fantom owners, please ?

I have a scene set up for Pianoteq. Set a zone to external. I use the Fantom's USB port to send MIDI data to my PC and on the PC, I send the audio to the Fantom back through the USB. You can select the audio output in Pianoteq or make it the PC default audio. Use ASIO. On the PC, I use the Fantom icon in the control panel to set the bit rate and buffering to maximize sound quality and minimize the lag/delay. If your PC is not that powerful, a lower bit rate helps. Also on the Fantom, I make sure my 3 piano pedals are sending the correct control signals so they work in Pianoteq. You will see them move in Pianoteq. You can/should start with the free demo to get it working and determine which pianos you like best. You need to choose them when you buy it. If you get Stage, you get two. Standard is three. My favorites are Steinway and Bluethner. Third place is a toss up. You can also buy more pianos later like I did. If you are having trouble getting it to work, in Pianoteq you can click on the piano keys with the mouse to see if the sound is working. You can see keys light up and the pedal move in Pianoteq when playing on the Fantom keys so you know the MIDI is working.

I already have so much in Fantom I don't plan adding any more...but those 46 SDZ packs Roland is offering for free (876 new tones plus 30 drum kits) after simply reporting your Fantom serial number.

I bought Pianoteq in 2014 and upgraded to the latest version. This software is amazing and can't be compared with the piano timbres that can be obtained with a Roland Fantom, V Piano included. I can count on 10 different acoustic piano models and it's a great pleasure moving from a model to another... it's quite obvious that when I switch to Fantom I can hear all the differences. No matter you delve into VPiano parameters, you won't be able to equal the richness and detail of Pianoteq Pro.

I am trying out the trial version of Pianoteq but have found that the hold/damper pedal on the fantom 8 is either only on or off (0 or 127 in value). However, if you plug the same pedal into another pedal jack and assign it to hold, this gives varying values depending on how hard you press the pedal down. This sounds much better with Pianoteq and more realistic. I can't find a setting inside Fantom to change the hold pedal jack so that it gives incremental values?

User2021, see SYSTEM>PEDAL>Continuous Hold Pedal> OFF, ON.

If it is ON, the PEDAL HOLD/R jack
will support half-pedaling. If half-
pedaling is enabled, you can connect
a damper pedal (such as the DP-10;
available separately) and use the
pedal to control subtle nuances of the
piano sounds you play.

Also, DP-10 pedal is provided with a function switch to set it as SWITCH or CONTINUOUS.

Continuous will provide Half Damper Control.

I just upgraded my Pianoteq to version 7, and I have to say that in my humble opinion there is something very special about Pianoteq that my Fantom is not currently capable of. The pianos in the Roland all sound fine, but they don't have the special character of the "real" pianos that are modeled in Pianoteq. The Pianoteq pianos all sound so different and beautiful, where most of the Roland pianos sound very similar to each other. I have not yet tried the SuperNatural pianos, so those might be different/better also. I just wanted to share my experience so that people here won't be missing out by sticking with only the Roland piano choices. You can download a free demo of Pianoteq to try out all the instruments. A few notes won't play in the demo version and there is a 20 minute time limit, but otherwise it is fully functional. I love the new NY Steinway D Warm, the C. Bechstein DG D 282 and the Grand Bluetner Model One. I had Pianoteq Stage version 6 and upgraded to Standard version 7 because it is on sale and includes an extra instrument. If you are just starting, Stage will be fine for most people unless you really want to tweak the sound.

I've been a Pianoteq supporter for years - it's my 'go to' best ever piano sound. Roland is good, but doesn't come anywhere near it, both to ears and playing response. Isn't it time that Roland allowed us to install these Superb VST instruments in the Fantom? Or maybe I'm missing something?
