How to select user tones by user tone number?

Post by tomkitel »

I have a question for the Jupiter X/Xm pros: how can I select User Tones within a Scene based on the preset number only? So I want to scroll through my User Tones from 001 to 256. But the numbers are jumping from, say for example, 056 to 035 due to Category or Model Bank restriction. I've been looking for a solution for days, but can't find one. My Jupiter Xm only ever lets me scroll through my User Tones within a Category or Model but not just within user tone numbers. So for example, if I want to set User Tone 022, there's no way without first setting the Category or Model Bank under which the requested tone 022 was saved. Hope my question is clear?

BTW: when using the PC editor it works. Once I set a user tone via the editor I then can scroll through all user tones in the keyboard just by user tone numbers. The editor obviously overrides any category or model restrictions. But how can I do that without the editor?

Select your PART, press Model Bank button, press up arrow to select top line of the screen (model), turn the right encoder fully to the right to reach USER bank, press the down arrow to return to the TONE user list line of the screen then, use left encoder to scroll up and down faster and the right encoder to scroll up and down slowly in the USER bank.

USER bank is the last bank after model bank and category bank.

Got it! Many thanks!

There is another way to do that from SCENE view.

When a PART is selected, pressing ENTER displays the TONE list of the current model or category.
By pressing and holding the right arrow, we can reach the USER bank after model and categories.

Wow! This works even better. How did you find out? I didn't find these simple steps in the manual. Now working with my Jupiter Xm is much faster and much more fun!

Many thanks again!

We can find it in the reference manual (JUPITER-Xm_reference_eng05_W.pdf) on page 14.

I use the first way most of the time because I prefer to see the envelope of a TONE before selecting it.
