Hi,
I have noticed that the interactive chord feature does not work if the chords come from an external midi controller.
I have an old Roland PC200 MkII connected to the JD-Xi, and while the interactive chord works well from the JD-Xi's keyboard, it doesn`t work with the controller. I can play sounds just fine with the controller though, no worries there.
Is this simply not possible with the current firmware? Can this be achieved with specific SysEx or CC messages? The MIDI Implementation has no section pertaining to the Chord Edit parameters, as I think it was not updated after the 1.50 patch.
cheers,
Louis
JD-Xi Interactive chord not triggered from midi controller
Re: JD-Xi Interactive chord not triggered from midi controll
For the benefit of the internet, here are the answers from Roland support:
Also the arpeggio and transpose function cannot be used from an external controller:Unfortunately, the Interactive Chord feature is only possible via the JD-Xi's Keyboard and not from an external keyboard.
Transpose might work from a controller if the controller is transposed. I am pretty sure that is the case but would need to double check. For the arpeggiator, that is correct, only from the JD-Xi keyboard.

Hello,
Is this 'limitation' still valid? Keen to try out JD-XI interactive chord feature from an external midi keyboard, but not sure it will work?
Cheers.

No, it will not work from an external keyboard.
