How to connect Fantom to monitors and sub

Post by rb293 »

I just purchased a fantom 8 and I am not sure how to hook it up. I never had a keyboard with sub outs before. DO I plug the keyboard from the main outs into the sub and then the sub into the monitors? Or do I plug the keyboard from the sub outs into the subwoofer and then the main outs of the keyboard into the monitors... I hope I explained it well enough to understand what i mean.. Also, would it be better to use a mixer to hook it up and what outs from the keyboard would i use... Thanks for any help...Ron

The “sub outs” do not refer to “subwoofer” outputs. They are alternative outputs you can use for certain signals. For example, you may choose to route the metronome to the sub outs so it is not heard through the main outputs, but connects to the soundboard on a different input so it can be routed to your in ear monitors.

Welcome to the Fantom club!
I would suggest you first set it up by using just the main outs, either XLR or 1/4" jacks, into your amplifier/ mixer. Don't try anything too complicated just yet. There will be plenty of time to get clever with it in the future.
Just enjoy the amazing sounds, soak it all in, THEN have a go with the other sophistications!!!!
All the best.

OK great... I understand now about the sub outs... I thought they were dedicated to use for the bass sounds only. Thanks for the input...
