Longest time your replacement screen has lasted

Post by craigsfrost »

I just realized much I depend on my Juno-G. It's the single piece of gear I can't replace or do anything without. And that scares me a little. I had my screen replaced a little over a year ago and I use it at least 8 hours a week. I'm starting to notice ghosting on the graphics of the screen. Easiest way to explain what I see is if there is a line that stops part way horizontally, then I see a shadow of that line continue all the way from end to end. No other problems though (besides some buttons I have to press hard or at an angle). I contacted Roland about upgrading to a Fantom with my 70+ songs in the sequencer and over 400 samples. They said the file structure is different even between the Juno and Fantom X. I'd also have to reimport my samples which will give them new locations. And the sequencer files aren't compatible so I'd need to export SMF. So as far as I can tell the only compatible items are some of the stock sound and my SRX-07 board and RAM. That means I'm riding out the Juno-G as long as I can. If it needs repairs and they are going to cost more than $400 then I might as well look into something else and go through the pain of updating sound, mix, effects for all my songs.

So, those of you still using, how long has your screen lasted? I think there were different runs of replacement screens and I'm hoping the latest ones are the best.
