Hi,
I owned a Juno DS61 for a while that I traded in for a DS88.
On the 61 I had firmware 2.04 loaded up just fine.
When I received the 88 the only firmware upgrade available was 2.10 and the unit came with 1.60 so naturally I updated. Everything went smoothly.
What I've noticed now is that the 2.10 firmware breaks the Class Compliant Generic driver and renders it non-operational.. My Linux box does not recognize the keyboard at all when it is set to Generic Mode and connection is wonky at best when using Vendor Mode.
Some quick Google Research has indicated I am not the only one with this problem but it also affects Win 7,8, and XP users as well as Apple Users.
This is a SERIOUS FIRMWARE BUG WHICH SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY ROLAND ASAP!!!
The only reason I buy any keyboard or music gear product is when I KNOW it will be fully CLASS COMPLIANT USB MIDI.
This is no longer the case with the Juno DS and the 2.10 update.
ROLAND!!!! PLEASE FIX THIS NOW!!!
Gary ;)
Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
Re: Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
I have a ticket with Roland asking about another supposed bug in the version 2, so I'll add this to it and hopefully they'll reply to me; will update if and when...
Re: Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
Thanks. I made the swop for a second hand unit so technically it's out of warranty now.

You can add to the ticket that the update breaks both USB AND 5 Pin Din MIDI Ports as well.
Just received an interface and ran a test.

Re: Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
BTW, is there any way I can safely revert to the 2.00 firmware from 2.10 and if so where can I find the file? It turns out I do not have the file archived anywhere and Roland does not list earlier firmwares on their website.
I am finding this to be extremely frustrating as I now have zero connectivity with Linux.
This is really starting to burn me up.

Re: Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
Problem was resolved. Upgrade took more than a simple reboot to work properly. It required a full factory reset.

Re: Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
Good you solved it, Gary, but what does a factory reset do for user-installed samples -- which are not backed up with the Backup function?
Re: Juno DS Update 2.10 Breaks Generic Driver???
In my case I already had a backup from the DS61 which I installed with no problem into the DS88.
Without a backup of your patches though you'd be screwed.

Interestingly enough though, the Axial voices which I had installed did not disappear.
