Hello,
I have just received my system 1m which I am loving although not loving the instructions which are a joke!
Anyway I have installed the windows drivers and updated the system 1m unit to the latest version (1.21 i think it is). I can open a plug out vst, I can produce sounds and control the vst using the H/W but the lights on the unit do not change and correspond to the plug out. Do the lights only change when the plug out is loaded onto the hw or should they change when they are loaded say within ableton?
Also whenever I press the plug out button I get the error message 'Either the Plug-Out Synthesizer is not connected or is connected incorrectly'. I have both USB and midi cables connected to the device and have tried the system 1m and my focusrite as the sound card but still get this error message. Should I be able to access all features of the system 1m using my focusrite as the soundcard?
thanks
Greg

Take a look at that chart and try to ensure you are using the right version..
I am not sure but this might help...

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
Also check if you're using a VST3 DAW.
The ableton verion included with the MX-1 for instance seems to be VST 2 and thus won't work for plugging out. I personally use the steinberg VST 3 plugin development host just to plug out on my regular system1.

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
Hi roadtek/Oliver
Thank you both for your quick responses. I have Ableton 64 which doesn't look too promising when reviewing the table in the provided link. I think have seen so many people state the plug outs now work in Ableton I assumed that would be for both 32 and 64 bit versions. Does anybody know if there is a 64 bit version in the pipe line?
I will test ableton 32 tonight and report back....
many thanks

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
Are you sure you're not confusing the plug-out with the plug-in?
I've tried this and as a plug-in it works on ableton in VST-2 in the sense that it receives midi from the hardware over USB and thus plays.
Connected as a plug-out it only works on a VST 3 DAW. Which ableton isn't at this time as far as I'm aware. As a plug-out you should be able to load your plug-out to the hardware slot.
I'm not sure if this is different for the system1 plugin, but that's how it works with promars and sh101 in my case.

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
Hi pstnotpd,
I may be getting confused. So to confirm
Plugin (vst in daw) should work in ableton 64bit?
Plugout (loading to system 1m) does not work in ableton 64bit?
I can load the plugIN within my daw, control it using the hardware (system 1m) but the lights on the hardware do not change to the plugin layout. Is this a limitation of a plugin vs a plug out or is something not working as expected?

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
Yes, that sounds mostly like my setup. I'm on a system1.
Using the steinberg VST 3 testhost I'm able to plug-OUT the promars to my system1, which is not possible with Ableton.
In some reviews it's mentioned that the plug-OUT functionality is VST 3 and VST 2 only allows midi control of the plug-IN.
I did notice that the promars plug-IN doesn't visually change when using the system1 as a controller for the plugin when using the testhost. But as my main goal was to load the plug-OUT to the hardware I didn't investigate that.

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
Hello,
Can somebody please confirm if the lights only change according to if you use a 101, sh2, promars when used in plug out mode or should this also work when used as a plug in?
I get the same issues regarding connectivity when using ableton 32 bit by the way.

Re: System 1m - Plug out error
gunther82,
The lights on the hardware do not change to the specific model if only used as a controller for the plug-in.
I think the hardware only becomes aware of the model layout when that actual model is plugged out to it.
For instance, I have promars as the basic plugout on the hardware, but I can control the 101 plugin from the hardware in either system-1 or plug-out model. The lights will not change to 101 in this case.
Is that what you meant?
