How to feed the vocoder with a sample?
How to feed the vocoder with a sample?
Playing keyboard while speaking into the vocoder is not an easy task for me :) Is it possible to use a sample instead of the microphone? At least it should be possible to route the sampler to the sub out and connect the sub out with the audio input. However, to route a sample internal to the vocoder fx would be more elegant. Beside this, I fear it is not possible to resample a vocoded sample. Any hints how to do this?
Re: How to feed the vocoder with a sample?
So many possibilities...and questions like these reveal our workstations will never be complete stand-alone creating devices or quick & able prep-for-live devices until they house the power and large screens of a laptop or ipad type computer. (sorry..a little rant here)
That being said, the trick remains to record to your computer whatever sounds you want to easily trigger live. Edit accordingly, then record/transfer those sounds to the onboard sampler and save.
Play your keys and hit the pads for the rest. (intros/outros/segues/special stacked & edited sounds/ fx sounds including some vocoder/funny stuff/complete tracks...put 'em all on the pads).
A perfect FA08 would have at least an 10" screen (or 2nd normal screen by the sampler) with an editor like Sound Forge to handle anything recorded onboard, assign to pads, and save with soundset or whatever.
That's basically how it's done while keeping your computer/ipad type thing handy.
You can get most of this done using provided onboard tools, but not as easy, fast, or deep as tossing to your computer, editing, and tossing back to an FA pad.
