Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
I wanted to load a mp3-song in the Sequencer. Because it's not an audio - Sequencer, you only can trigger one (or more? I don't know it and have to check this) Pad, so it runs.
So I loaded a Song (98 measures) in a Pad. With pushing the Pad-knob it functions very well. When I define a track in the Sequencer not as MIDI-Track, but as a "Pad-Track" (this is possible), I can record a Sample from the pads into the Sequencer. Of course the Sample is not recorded, only a trigger information for the sample on pad no. X.
When I push the Start-Button of the Sequencer now, my Song (the Sample) is played.
Problem: The Sequencer stops in measure 35, so the song (Sample) is not played 'til the end. When you have a Song with 34 measures, it is no problem, all over 35 measures is cut.
Planned or a malfunction?

1.Record an empty song with greater number of measures
or
2.Press HOLD pad and play mp3 pressing pad with mp3 triggered
or
2.Press HOLD pad and play mp3 pressing pad with mp3 triggered
Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
I did so. But in measure 35 the sample stops. Whole song 106 measures, Sample (mp3) 98 measures, song plays but the sample stops in measure 35. You also can see this on the Display. The lines in this track are only until track 35. I think, it's a malfunction because of wrong programming.
I will ask the support of Roland!

Maybe because your song was first 34 bars long, the smaple trigger was programmed to last 34 bars...... Maybe you can check in micromode how long the note last (not sure how its called in the FA)
Or maybe you can record the trigger again and let it run as long as you want it to run......

All done, the problem is still there.
Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
Candy, to play mp3 you need start the sequencer ?
Try just switch on the hold button and press pad with assigned mp3 (dont run tehe seq).
Does it work ?

Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
As I wrote in my start-posting, mp3 functions by pushing the pad/hold-button very well. But I would like to trigger the mp3 from the Sequencer, so it will be synchronized with the (midi-) song, same as when you have an audio-track in your DAW. And in this case sample always stops after 35 measures, although the song has more measures.

I see, so maybe there is a limitation in this function or OS bug. I cant help :(
Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
I hope, that it is a bug, so that an update will remove this *smile*
Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
That's what I feared most, plus I was persuaded that I can run from the sequencer 8 pads simultaneously, not just one. See section Pads triggering and sync.Candy wrote:I hope, that it is a bug, so that an update will remove this *smile*
Thanks for your reply!

Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
Hi Candy
Not sure if this helps, but on my FA-06 I did the following:
1. inserted a MP3 song (5 minutes long) into a sample pad
2. in sequencer mode recorded the sample trigger from the keyboard, not the pad (I used to do this a long time ago with a Fantom-X using RPS)
3. recorded 54 bars, then stopped recording
4. pressed play and it plays back the sample until bar 54, when the sequence stops and the sample stops.
No limitation like you had. Unfortunately I haven't tried recording with hitting the sample pad. One thing though, to trigger the sample from the keyboard and get it to playback in full without keeping my finger on it, I had to toggle the Gate parameter in Sample Edit to OFF! Took me a while to figure that one out!!!

Great work! Is it somewhere in a manual? Due to my slowness, I'd like to look at the setting...technobob13 wrote:Hi Candy

Can't find a mention in the manual, though to be honest I have just dived in to the FA-06 and am experimenting with as many settings as I can before the end of the weekend! Anyway, here's what I did:
1. Load in your samples as normal.
2. In Sequencer mode, you change one track from MIDI to Pad, then the samples are automatically available on the keyboard, starting at the lowest key (on FA-06) corresponding to sample 1/Pad 1, then the next key corresponding to sample 2/Pad 2 and so on. Remember to play with the Gate setting in Sample Edit :)
Re: Pad Triggering in Sequencer - failed Function?
Hi Technobob13,
thank you so much! I tried in in your way and it was all ok, the song played until the end! Great! Now it is easier, to play along with a complete (Audio-) song some more tracks (Guitar, Effects ...). Perhaps it is also possible, to use the FA-06-Sequencer as a MIDI and Audio-File- Sequenzer, I still practice.
