Pete Rock's new "Soul Survivor II" album is the Shi8 also, I've had it for while but did'nt pay attention to it completely until yesterday when I got a good chance to listen to it as I had to go to traffic court three hours away in Indiana from where I live in Illinois... good album

But 'E'-Dub still bring that trunk funk from the basement!

I know most of ya'll don't care but oh well this is FREE ZONE

You might not believe me, but the new LL Cool J record, The Definition, is a monster. Yeah, his last few records have been weak, but this one is full of bangers. Timbaland produces more than half of the tracks!

OMG! That Erick Sermon joint is straight b-boy banger one after another. His basslines are sick! I've yet to get the KRS cd yet but I heard it's one of his best to date.

I personally think the Cool J album sucked badly. I thought Timbo coulda done better. I wasn't impressed at all. I guess that's why i've stayed away from LL albums since "16 Shots to the Dome" and "Mr. Smith".

The Pete Rock? I don't know :( He is and will continue to be my favorite producer but I don't think Soul Survivor II lives up to the name. The first Soul Survivor knocked from beginning to end. Maybe if he hadn't given it the same name I wouldn't have expected so much from it. Too bad Pete said the riff between him and CL Smooth will never be resolved. No more projects from the duo. :(

IMHO here are some other hot choices as of late: 1) Consequence-"Take 'em to the cleaners" 2) The Foreign Exchange-"Connected EP"(with Phonte of Little Brother) 3)Saigon-"Warning Shots" and 4) Dead Prez

holla back

your right Mic, it's not Soul Survivor I and that's what made me not pay attention to it as soon as I got it. I jus heard the first verse's of each, and off to the next one all the way thru the end of the album. had it for weeks jus sittin cuz i could'nt get off that 'E' Sermon. But after I jus sat back in my car let each one of them play back to back and to my surprise it was pretty good! it ain't SS1 or E-dub's but it worked!(I've heard alot worse albums) but your right he should of named it somthin else like 'Pete Rock' "Barely Survivin" or "Hangin In There" ha! J.K. (yes, too bad about them not doin any duo's any more cuz C.L.'s too smooth....) I think he was on more than jus one song though... how about Mad Skillz? and RZA & GZA's Voice is always a refreshing treat to listen to....

and the KRS "Get Right" man u heard right, it is one of the best he's done since the "KRS-ONE" back in 94-95. I got next was pretty hot also in 97 despite the critics. alot of ppl rate him according to the music ignorin the fact that the guy's a genious! but then again I could jus listen to that guy accapella a whole album or Dougie Fresh beat boxin the whole album while he rap! but I like the music either way so I don't know what ppl expect.(I like all his albums)

LL...............he's still talented but jus has bad taste in his old age. and did he borrow that outfit from Jay-Z? put your Kangol back on man!!! he should get together with some of the older cat's in hip-hop and do some serious oldschool shit with todays twist not this dancin and trancin techno shit. he gave up his 'real' old fans for 'phoney' new ones... but if he's gettin paid, who's to say he's wrong? I'd probably do the same in his shoes if I saw the checks he be cashin....I have'nt heard his latest, but seen the video to the Club song he's got(WHACK) "If you can't recite the realness, DON'T SPEAK!"

when did Dead Prez come out with a new one? have not heard it yet...

Dead Prez dropped an album about 3 or 4 months ago. You prolly haven't heard about it because it's so far from commercial I don't think anyone is brave enough to play it(you'd know what I mean when you hear it). No bling. No car talk. No gansta talk. It reminds me of black awareness from the early days of KRS-1, Poor Righteous Teachers, and Brand Nubian.

Nowadays though I buy records more for production first and rhyming second because there's so many wack emcees out there. Not much impresses me.

Yeah, the Dead Prez songs aren't for everybody.....the public isn't ready for that kind of knowledge. Some of the songs kind of contradict themselves, but overall, they're that deal.

I need to get that SSII. I have the first soul survivor and it's one of my favorite cds.

If you haven't, you guys should go peep Ghostface's latest album. Tons of samples, but the cd is sweet.

Shyne's is on point despite that stupid commercial track.
