Hello all,
I am having a hardware issue with my Fantom G6 and hoping someone can give me some information.
My keyboard has been working fine up to approximately 3 weeks ago (it's about 1.5 years old and I am the second owner. It has been very well maintained and worked flawlessly from when I received it...a little over a year ago). I noticed that one of the keys (B above middle C) has been acting weird. When I strike the key on certain patches, it's like I have to hit the key hard in order to get it to sound. And then there are times where it is the exact opposite i.e. I barely touch the key and the sound is like I pressed it hard. This behavior happens pretty much with all patches
The below are some of the troubleshooting steps that I have performed:
1) I have done a factory reset on the system multiple times.
2) I have unplugged all cables except for my headphones.
3) I have removed the memory stick from the system.
4) I have 2 ARX boards (01 & 02) and have removed them both to see if they were the problem.
So far, nothing has helped. This keyboard has been very gently used (never on stage and for the most part, it has sat in a corner, covered up because I didn't have the room to bring it out).
If anyone has any suggestions OR, if anyone has opened their keyboard up (I would like to see if anything is blocking the key or if it needs cleaning) and could give a quick rundown on how that is done, I would appreciate it. I would like to do the very basic things first before I have to take it in and pay a couple of hundred bucks to have it diagnosed.
Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Problem with keyboard
yes it could be dirty. try a powerful vacuum cleaner, put it near the cracks between the keys. it happened to me once, got that stubborn hair out thats messing with my velocities on one particular note. it could be any kind of dirt thats in between the contacts of the keybed circuitry. sometimes you need to open it up to take the dirt off, but try the vacuum trick first. or you could put the fg on your cushioned bed give it a shake upsidedown while hitting the problem keys to loosen that dirt. I suspect its either a hair or solid particle material thats stuck. worst case, your problem key needs replacing. If its well maintained as you said, then its probably dirt. Goodluck.

Thanks for your suggestions, Dark Knight.
I did neglect to say in my initial post that I did attempt to vacuum it out. but when I get home from work, I'll also flip it upside down, give it a shake, and have my buddy help hold the vacuum.
As for the proper term, it's "velocity." For some reason, I couldn't think of a word to use when I made my initial post. :) The velocity of the key changes sporadically.
If anyone has any other suggestions, or could point me in the proper direction in order to open her up, it would be much appreciated.
