Personally I like that the arp is so poo on the fantom. I really don't get why instruments like the motif have what amounts to 'auto bass chord' like cheap yamaha arranger keyboards. Surely a professional instrument like the fantom (or indeed the motif) is designed to be played and for creativity, not auto- accompaniment with patterns programmed by someone else.

Why poor ? You can build, create your own Arp with the G. There is no limit. Why use only the presets which are as any preset in any synth just limited themselves.

A user guide video would be great for Arps on the G. Struggling with this feature still.

Thanks great video...

Does anyone know if there's collections of arp styles out there on the internet in .smf format it'd be nice to expand on the presets.

i use this http://www.nonstop2k.com/community/ for a collection of arps, usually i would cut the midi phrases, combined record with another arp & then save as new phrase

Please note that the Fantom G does not support user arpeggiator patterns.. You can import midi step sequences to be played, but they cannot be arpeggiated.

Bothe the Fantom x and Juno g were significantly better in this area

Hi, does this mean that none of G's arp functions (variation, motif etc etc) will have any effect on the imported step sequence & I might as well import it directly into a track through the sequencer as a phrase and manipulate it that way or do you just mean that it won't run an arpeggiation sequence from each note in the imported step sequence.

or am I thinking about this in the wrong way altogether?

No..the motif does not work. User "arps" are step sequences that start position 1 from the last note played..There are no playback pattern changes (motif) possible.. Totally sucky
