Keyboard magazine leak
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
It looks very april foolish to me..
But hey..
even if this one is an april fool, im sure not to be impressed even with the official report at the opening in a few days..
have said that..
at $3000+ for this report, Im just laughing...
who would pay that just for what appears to me to be once again a cut down version of the fantom architecture with the added supernatural thing and then just stick on the jupiter80 label.?
Recycling in progress once again..
If this is it
you would be better off purchasing from ebay.. a fantom x and a v-synth XT for less..
Oh well.
as for the Jupiter(if this is it)
"fools and there money are easily parted.."
and there will have to be plenty of them to sell this one...
LOL

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Hmmm . . . I thought it was "A fool and his hair are soon parted". I know one thing - This isn't a bald-faced lie."fools and there money are easily parted.."
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
yes!A fool and his hair are soon parted
But for that you need a comb ;-)
maybe this foolish Jupiter will include it free in one of its filters ;))
According to this
http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2011/ ... expecting/

Actually, I think the correct version is:
"A fool and his money will soon party"
"A fool and his money will soon party"
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
I don't think the announcement in the Keyboard mag is an april fools gag.
It's good to see that Roland is moving forward with the V-technology and does not try to release a Fantom GF.
There's one very negative aspect about the J-80: the price.
If the price is positioned on the same level or even a bit higher than the KRONOS, then the competition for the J-80 is going to be tough, very tough, since the KRONOS has a LOT of goodies to offer.
I think the J-80 is a forerunner for the next workstation, so those who feel it's a shame that there is no sequencer in the J-80 may want to wait a while.

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Feels like a knee-jerk reaction to Kronos IMHO.
"Quick, let's raid the parts-bin: we need to put *something* out to give the impression we are still in the game".....
Disappointing really.
Still, on the plus side, I could find myself getting a Fantom G at a knock-down price!! LOL!

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
It reminds me of a glorified version of junoGI, made in china. All they did was use leftover 76 keybed and some aluminum side pieces and called it jupitor80. Sad, really. But im glad its probably a april fools joke. :D
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
This is NOT an April joke. I have seen the production version a month ago. And I took part in the sound design since November last year.

Anyhow, this is indeed a joke

Like you've heard how this machine sounds.jabberwocky wrote:Anyhow, this is indeed a joke

Got to say, I'm not overenamoured with the way it looks. But I'm staill eagerly looking forward to hearing it in the demos coming from the Musikmesse. As a live player who has to cover off all manner of instruments in a rock/pop band, I'm keen to hear what effect the Supernatural technology has on the articulations and expression. If it sounds good I can get over my own reaction to its styling!

How said that? , I'm just saying it's gonna be a JOKE AGAIN !.Like you've heard how this machine sounds.
It looks like ... does it run on batteries ?
Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Jabby, but without the sequencer and sampler, how can it be a joke? Roland focused on getting ONE thing done now, making a great SYNTH first and foremost. I won't be their advocate but early reports are that this thing sounds really, really good.

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
I can't wait to hear how this board sounds!
I'd also be very interested to know where Roland has taken the Jupiter's expansion cababilities; whether-or-not the ARX is still supported in the '80'. I would think this would tell us alot about Roland's future direction.
