Such intense vitriol -- on a Roland web site, no less! I guess that perhaps steeling one's self for the onslaught of hateful rhetoric concerning other new Roland products might not be such a worthy or useful exercise -- now would it....?

P.S. And what on EARTH is "Brolland" anyway...?

Here are my 2 cents (for what it is worth):

1. The Fantom G is a crippled instrument. It reminds me a lot of the Fantom S, which was the go between instrurment between the initial (new, breakthrough) original Fantom and the stellar Fantom X series. Granted, each evolvement has had issues, but the X was a major leap over the original. The G, for me, was too similar to the X, the sounds were boring and the keybed on the G6 and G7 was wretched compared to my X7. I am glad I never upgraded.

2. I don't think that there will be a new workstation from Roland this year. Roland's marketing strategy in the last two years seems to be to target the youth (children's) market, the hobbyist and dj market and the digital piano players. (i.e., starter synths like GAIA (which is pretty cool), audio interfaces, background ensembles and V-Piano). There doesn't seem to be a focus on high end synths and high end workstations.

3. Overall, what is Roland's committment to the workstation? If there isn't a new workstation from Roland at Winter NAMM 2012 then I think it is a safe bet that Roland has abandoned the workstation concept. Time will tell.

4. I am hoping, like many here, that Roland comes blazing back with several new synths, including an all new workstation with a brand new soundset and a new analog synth that brings the competiton to their knees.

But if Roland makes a Computer with a RD 700gx keybed Im a serious candidate to go back to the workstation line of Roland.

That is an interesting idea. I have thought about that for years -- when will Roland or Yamaha consider producting actual PC products?

It is possible. Right now, Roland owns Cakewalk which only runs on PC. They could, for instance, produce an Open Labs-style keyboard, only more compact and without the 20,000 controllers on its top panel. They could even make it possible to upgrade yourself, by merely buying new components, including motherboards, drives, memory, et cetera.

It would be a big leap for them -- but if they did it, they might make a lot of us very happy.

No, really. I have no idea what brolland means.

I only read English and some Spanish. I don't do, you know, txtng.

Kn ne1 (srsly) xpln 2 me?

- Sammy

P.S. Googling this I got "b-roll" -- meaning extra footage spliced into an A-roll (remember kids -- a "film" used to be a long spool of plasticky material called "celluloid").

:)

But anyway -- what does this have to do with Roland? Are you saying that Roland is taking a back seat to its own future? Are you saying that they have effectively "spliced in" crummy footage to their own products? I'm mystified -- stupefied, really -- and even if this IS what you mean... well... wow. Maybe I'm giving you TOO much credit...
