Kronos:

# Virtual Memory Technology (VMT), aided by a fast SSD (Solid State Disk) provides high polyphony and massive, ultra-long, and unlooped samples; offering unheard of performance from a hardware instrument

# Smooth Sound Transition: this often-requested feature allows held or sustained notes to keep sounding when changing sounds or modes.

# Set List mode: Organize the Programs, Combis, and Songs you need to perform your set in a single, easy-to-select screen – including performance notes!

and lot more...

Why do I need my fantom G anymore? Now I have a dream machine to get again, and maybe also get a FX8 back to "undo" my mistake. I miss a lot the sounds from FX.

No new ARX, no new "features" to FG. It´s a shame!

I cannot resist asking this question: "How many if us would have spent 'Three Thousand Plus' for a workstation that after knowing the fg would only get 3 arx cards? E Piano, Brass, Drums! And would have endless problems with usb drive compatability, and file sharing between projects!
It teeters on false advertisement.
They led us to believe that the ARX 1&2 were just the beginning of a vast array of new cards sporting a new technology of realism. With their history of srx cards, we jumped at it! They also said that the FG utilized the most popular sounds of their srx cards. According to WHOM!
This Sucks, and is showing me the true character of Roland. Unfortunately I purchased an AX synth as well. It doesn't perform the functions that the manual brags, and has been in repair (AT Roland) since Nov. They will not receive another dime from me.

have to say i was dissappointed for my FG...but then i was kinda happy to see the new BK-7m (backing module thingie) for my piano/EP playing/screwing around and the VPiano Grand is kinda cool.

i forwarded the url of the VPGrand to my wife... will see what she saids.
about 3months ago I gave her my VPiano for her classical piano playing...she loves it, but it looks kinda out of place in my living room.

i suppose i can get the VP back in my music room or place it in the loft and get her the Grand...(?). then use my CP1 with my FG music composition. hummm...

I have to say that i've just listened to the Kronos audio demos, and they sound, well,very...Roland! Looks like Korg beat our boys to the punch! The Roland techs will be back to the drawing board scratching their heads as we speak! Looks like i'll be waiting a little while longer to upgrade my trusty Fantom X7! Come on Roland, get a move on!

Well I was all set to buy the G7 just before Christmas, and found out it was discontinued, so thought i'd wait for the next 76note Workstation! There'd better be one now! We need multiple Roland engines like the Kronos but with All the Roland classic sounds and with an awesome Piano engine! ARX all built in! Looks like the dream is over! For now!

How about the following scenario:

Korg: "we proudly announce a new workstation milestone, etc, etc."

Roland: "we proudly announce that we have purchased Yamaha's participation at Korg; from now on Korg products are basically Roland" :D

The thing that's weird about Kronos is the 73-key version is hammer weighted ...

I have an X7 too ... excited by Kronos ... but I don't think i can go for 61 keys and don't want hammer-weighted either ... but who knows ...

Anyway ... as much as all this stuff on Kronos is great ... I'm still not sure it's going to be enough to get me from my fully expanded X7, which really, five years on, still does it for me every single day ...

Has anyone noticed Roland seems obsessed with audio interfaces? There are no less than 15 on their website currently, not including the V-Studio, Sonic Cell, or synth combinations.

Yeah, the lack of 76 keys in any board really gets me!

I would opt for the 61 and just bring my beautiful light weight Roland 76 note controller...A-37.

You are right! That whole thought works alot better off of a Roland piano bench!

I was not holding my breath for new ARX, but it is sad that we getting used to be taken advantage of. I agree with earlier posters: we were lead to believe that FG will be expandable and paid good money for the ARX expansion, just to keep it empty. My is still empty- I do not need extra pianos or drums. I am not sure what happened. It is so atypical for Roland- their product was always expandable and they used to do such a good job with expansion boards. Note that there also are no upgrades to V-Synth GT. How long is it been since they released the Brass expansion? Few years? It makes no sense. Also weighted action is not that bad. One thing I cannot do with weighted keys is- programming the drums. The keys don’t return back fast enough. For the playing purpose I would use weighed action.
