"Slave" parts in User performances (X7)

Post by emgasulla »

When I try to edit some User performances in my X7, I find that some parts are sort of linked to others, for example their volume level is not independent, one of them is "slave" to another, plus they sound all over the keyboard no matter what the Key Range limits are. Does anybody know what parameter is causing this and how to change it?

I had a similar issue lately - make sure that each part is assigned to its own midi channel, not all switched to the same one (for the active parts).
When I had multiple parts on the same midichannel, I could no longer individally adjust the volumes. Seperating them took care of that. Asd long as the keyboard switch is 'On' for the parts you wish to play from the X7 keyboard, they will all work. This should be the cause of/fix for the key range problem too.

Good luck!

Yes, that took care of the problem. The "slave" part was assigned to the same midi channel as an inactive part (one with keyboard switch off) -so even if this part did not sound, it controlled the one I wanted to use.

Thanks for the great advice!

Keep in mind that you can use the Output setting instead of Volume to control the loudness of individual parts, regardless of whether they share MIDI channels with other parts.
