Re: Fantom G production terminated?!
Considering Dan left the forums and he wont email me back about questions on the G... I am guessing this is true and has been for quite some time. My guess is, the new Motif took them by surprise and they are scrambling to make up the difference with their own line.
What they dont know, is they could just take user suggestions and add some more ARX cards(like VPiano) and they could relaunch the G line with these new, added features and people would be happy. That is the problem with these corporations... they dont take the time to find out what users really want in their keyboards and end up making unnecessary jumps in product lines, when they could just improve on what they already have by software upgrades and onboard expansions.
Shame, because it happens and has been happening for the history of keyboards. It seems the corporate execs arent as smart as they think they are.

Re: Fantom G production terminated?!
Roland could easily beat the competition once again with a software update. The hardware in the Fantom-G is in many ways exceptional, even today. But I guess they just don't want to put money on a market that is shrinking very quickly as professionals switch to way more powerful and convenient computer-based environments, amateurs are not willing to spend over $1000, and rich amateurs would rather buy the V-Piano.

I really dont know what to say except for me the G is perfect for my style of music,i almost got the X till i found out the G was coming out,yes i to agree that updates and more ARX cards would be the best thing for Us G owners.
Look at how many SRX cards they made compared to 3 ARX so far,if they dont make anymore...WTF? I guess we will find out at NAMM...... And i agree as well that ROLAND SHOULD TO LISTEN TO THERE CONSUMERS WE ARE THE ONES BUYING AND USING THERE PRODUCTS.

Artemiy: you sound like you know something about this. Is it really true, can you confirm?
Re: Fantom G production terminated?!
Had I created a technically advance product like the FG and the majority of comments/responses from a forum members that have purchased my product were negative/complaining, I might be very tempted to deep six the product and find some more appreciative users in another product.
In my opinion the FG is a great board. It is not the everything to everyone's need or desire. It is what it is, enjoy it or sell it.

This is where you should have stepped up and tried to make it right, not stick your head in the sand and pretend everything is ok.

Re: Fantom G production terminated?!
if this is the case, I doubt we will see another workstation from roland.
seems there last spurt of releases where down sizing what they already had..
I think roland have gone as far as they can go with the G and any further would kill there future opportunities to re-invent/re-cycle.
Its their own fault for not treating there customers with the respect they deserve.
It should not have taken so long for them to fix what was lacking on the G when it was release.
Its all a pity really..
customers loose any future support
and roland loose future customer loyalty in the process.
But credit where its due..
from my perspective the two best pieces of roland gear to have are the G and the V-synth-XT

Magnificent Point You Have Made.
My 2cents, lets all wait till NAMM.If nothing else comes out for the G Series this year
then there will be a reason get discouraged a little. It dosnt matter to me if they stop making Gs,i already have one.
Im just looking for other updates and or alot more ARX Cards
They came out with the G saying its there (Flagship keyboard the next legend)All im saying is they should live up to that statement.

G-Man, sorry, but I have no information that the G is discontinued and I don't know what they have in their plans. I am just speculating assuming that the G is indeed no longer in production, and looking at what they have been doing in the past year.

but don't wurry ' the Fantom G has for 2010 a lot that will rock your socks off !! ' ,.... hahahaha.... what a joke again.
Re: Fantom G production terminated?!
Well...I wrote to that hotline myself and I should get an answer monday at least. Anyway I was just thinking... it's weird if the production has been stopped because they should give something else in exchange - a rack version for example. But there's nothing. Ok maybe they don't want to invest in keyboards with sequencers.... but they will stop making synthesizers too? Will Roland become a company that makes products only for newbies? It's hard to believe that.
Re: Fantom G production terminated?!
but does it really matter?.. i mean if you have one what difference does it make, and sure we all know any roland products only have a life of 2-3 years and its been at least that anyway..
I cant see a rack version being on the cards since what make the G what it is cant be offered in a rack version..
example..
RPS
you cannot use an external keyboard to trigger it on the G which you could on the X.
unless they include it, but that's an admission they that it was omitted on the G.
and i could`nt see slide controllers on the rack or a BIg screen and alot of other function that require pads just cant be made to work on a rack. so a rack is a waste of time.
and knowing what we know now about the G and whats lacking why would anyone get a rack knowing all this?
so whats the point.
