How do I hear all tracks when editing in microscope edit?
When I enter 'microscope edit' the Fantom G solos the track I'm editing when I want to hear the whole song. Is this another feature missing from the X or can I change this in a setting?
Microscope editing makes the track play solo?
Re: Microscope editing makes the track play solo?
Hey Seang
Im not expert on the FG yet... but I believe you are correct.
When you are in Microscope Edit mode, you are editing a single phrase, which in turn is associated with a track.
So when you use the transport keys, it applied only to the Phrase being edited.
If anyone else has better info... I would love to hear it
Cheers

Re: Microscope editing makes the track play solo?
Hi Seang!
It is possible to edit your entire song, provided it is MIDI data, in 'Microscope' edit mode. You must first save the song as a Format 0 SMF.
You can do this in either 'Song Play' or 'Song Edit' mode by pressing the Song Util [F7] button and then choosing the last option - Save As SMF.
Then press the Execute button and name your MIDI file. In 'Song Play' mode, press the SMF List [F2] button, choose to either import the file into your phrase list or directly into the existing song by choosing the [F5] or [F6] option. Microscope edit this phrase as you would any other! =)
Hope that helps!

Re: Microscope editing makes the track play solo?
The 'extract' function does not exist like it does on the 'X' series. If I really did need to extract a specific part, I would simply copy that part to the end of the phrase and then delete the unused remainder, saving the edit as it's own phrase. I would then delete the old data from the original.
In many ways, the song data saved as a single phrase can be easier to edit. However, I must admit that an extract function to different phrases might be a useful feature to implement in a future OS.
Thanks!

Re: Microscope editing makes the track play solo?
have the habbit to make several versions of a cover / maybe after 2 months the first version was finished. It would be helpfull to take several parts out and rearrange these in the tracks... Or copy a part of 1 svq, to another svq.

piaknowguy, I think that both of your replies posted here worth being taken to the "Tips&Tricks" thread
