or blame the overall sound quality of the ARX boards.

Yeah, maybe. I really like the drums board. Haven't spent much time with the other two. Pop brass couldn't be more less Audacity Works unless it were an accordion. Or a noseflute.

yes i mean drums and electri keyboards are cool but i think more people need strings and synth sounds and wolrd sounds.

I mean the brass exp sounds cheap to me, the drums expansion is nice, but, many players play in a band they don't need that.

I'm not sure they did the right boards first.

If we look in the past a little we can see that both of the previous expansion boards series (SR-JV80 and SRX) were actually completed with the necesary sounds and boards for all genres. Thus I don't see why Roland would drop the ball now, with ARX. This change of concept was necesary because SRX are nothing else but new samples programmed in the Fantom. Since you can have integrated sampling and synthesis with the G and effects for each part, the old concept of expansion needed to be replaced with something more relevant.
Unfortunately there is this crisis now everywhere and all marketing strategies need a quick rethink and orientation... but in a few years it should be fine... Unless of course we all end in 2012 and take the FG in hell with us for more ARX :D :)) LOL

To be honest, I'd rather pay for an ARX containing all the SRX cards and thus having an immense number of great sounds for all styles than an ARX card based around a single sound and a few articulations.
But I doubt that this will ever happen since Roland still uses those sounds and implements them in all those Juno variations which comes up every few months.

lol maybe they rethink their orientation, I don't know, I just hope they don't come out with a new synth connectable on the internet by wi-fi with a button called export to 96hz mp3 on Youtube with a foldback camera.

be the next internet superstar with a cheap sound and pay your bills with the ads on your page lol.

I've given up on the ARX expansion. I'll now look to get expansion cards for my newest workstation, the Motif ES6, which I'm really enjoying right now. Bought the 80's soundset last night for the Motif and it's incredible. BTW, my ES6 has definitely made my Fantom G expendable. Looking now to replace it with a Kurzweil.

I honestly couldn't care less for strings or any of the usual orchestral expansion boards (because they always sound inferior to what's available in software libraries/instruments).
But a V-organ ARX, or a V-synth, or a V-piano, or a best-of-SRX, or a flash Xpansion, that would be an interesting way to expand the FG.

But first I hope Roland will release a major OS update which addresses many of the issues mentioned here in the forum, that's far more important to me than any expansion.

I would love the ARX too, but A.) its expensive, and B.) they wont make them. and #2. my yamaha motiff xs88 blows my Roland G7 out of the water...

I have 6 boards i use.

I just bought both the yamaha and roland G. played with them extensively. To the bear ear alone in my gigs, at home, on stage, the yamaha just FEELS right. I love the Roland G7 for looping, and synth sounds, but for those that just have 1. I hate to be biased. I like my yamahaa xs88 better. In fact though, cause im giving up waiting on arx, im buying Srx, world collection, and then 2nd either Orchestra, Dance, or trance trax for my 2nd expansion board for roland G7. Srx is good enough for me. Make the sounds work for you, forget about ARX.

my boards
1.Yamaha dx100 :P i use for sound effects, water, thunder, lightning, etc
2.godfather Korg M1
3.Kurzweil x2500. 88 keys, hate it. worse board i ever bought.
4.Roland Xp-80, still use this alot
5.Roland fantom G7
6.Yamaha motif Xs88

Hmmm... I have a G8 and I've played recently (and briefly) the Motif XS88 in a music store.
Cheap keyboard, cheap materials, slow navigation, awful interface, thin sound. Mastering section - way better in the Fantom G.
The XS is attractive due to the simultaneous arpeggiators. Also, with EQ for each part, two filters per tone/osscilator and more inspired sound programing the XS leaves at first a good impression. However, with a little extra-programing the G can sound at least as good as the XS. And when the ARX will be ready, there will be no match for the FG.
P.S. Or maybe it will be...in the form of...Fantom Gi ?? :)

Good luck fitting those SRX boards to your G mate.

And to my ears, my Motif ES6 sounds better than my Fantom G6 in most areas, not all. In fact, I just sold the Fantom G and I do not miss it one bit.
