Artemiy: jabberwocky said that if some wants to copy some phrases from project to project and these phrases are made with specific sounds that are needed as well, so that the sonic result can be recreated as intended originally, you're simply out of luck, because still copying or moving patches require the use of the Librarian. As simple as that.

this new file utility might not be perfect, but it is great. last night it saved me a whole bunch of time copying my sounds from one project to another. :D

hey, i thought jabberwocky was supposed to be filtered out during the server transfer? ;) jk

kenchan: you mean you tranferred some of your sounds or just all of them?
That's whate we're saying here, you can only tran sfer the .svd file, not specific sounds that are contained in it.

cyclops, but the phrases DO NOT CONTAIN any information about the patches used in them. Is it that hard to understand what I said?

Artemiy, I totally understand what you're saying. It seems that YOU are the one that does not understand what we are saying here.

Ok, I'll break it down into pieces for you:
Suppose you have some cool phrases and want to share them between projects.
But hey, these phrases, in the original project, use some very super-duper cool sounds that you want to tranfer them both to your new project, so that the recording sounds like the original.
Say that in your orignal project you have a cool clavinet part, or a piano part. but the clavinets or the pianos you have in the destination project are not so good. So you want to take the good sounds in this too, so that the phrases are played with better sounds. How are you gonna do that?
Answer: Use the Librarian.

Now, this wasn't so difficult, was it? :-D

cyclops, I understand you, but the phrases still do not have any patches assigned to them. This is something you don't seem to grasp from what I am saying.

**Phrases are just snippets of MIDI notes.**

**Phrase file doesn't contain any patch information.**

A phrase is usually used in a song, but it can be used in 10 or 100 songs. And all those songs can have different sounds assigned to the part which is controlled by your phrase. How would the G guess what you want? You'd need to point it to the song in which you used your phrase in, then it would search for the studio set you saved in that song, then the part which corresponds to the MIDI channel in that phrase, and pull the patch used in that part, and then import the patch and phrase into your currently selected song.

You know, even Logic Pro that costs $500 will make you do all this manually. You can't exchange complex data like that very easily.

I read that there are new orchestral waveforms and was wondering if anyone has identified and listened to them.

saying it my own way : The reason why Phrases don't contain "sound" information is the very same reason why you can change the sounds playing it when you want ;-)

I have managed to create a couple Live sets and also modified a couple "Single's". What is the easiest way to save all of this so that when I upgrade from 1.31 ro 1.5, I can put it all back in? Thanks

I did a "save as" to my USB, did a factory reset, installed the 1.5 update, did a factory reset, then when I turned it on my single, live sets and samples were still there? That shouldn't have been the case...should it?

cyclops- yah, all the sound files i usually use on my G8 was transferred into the new project in v1.50. not individually.

my G7 is my tester all-in-one machine for me. it has everything from v1.50. :p

emenelton- between 1.31 and 1.5 there are quite a lot of string sounds. they sound good. (im not sure if there's any differnece between FGconnect that was released a few days ago and the v1.50).
