Note:

You cannot mark to DELETE every single phrase in the INT project as some of the phrases and samples are protected -- those being phrases or samples used in the new audio demos. You can choose a range or individual files to delete in the internal project. And remember, if you accidentally erase move something in the internal project, you can always factory reset to bring the data back.

If people are confused by how to select and copy or move data between different projects on a USB key, drop me an email at my Facebook and I'll do a quick video. The main thing to remember is that you need to use the RIGHT cursor to open the project folder, then select the destination folder by right clicking that to open. Then you can copy the data into the folder, then move it around if you like. Hope that's helpful.

Dan, the point I was making, and seemingly others want this too, is to to get rid of the phrases and samples and songs (demo material) and keep the wonderful new livesets, studiosets and patches.

How would a user go about doing this best? Can we utilize the new File Utility for this?

I have users asking me this, for church and whatnot, but I had no answer as for now.

Jesse, in Dan's latest video (link in our news section) you can see that the File Utility can be used to delete phrases (and you can mark them all). However, as Dan mentioned some of them are "protected".

I did not install the update yet as I do not have my G here, so I wonder if the new sounds are in preset or user area? If they are in the user area, you can simply start a new clean project and copy them over using the Librarian.

Yes the new Connects Live presets are in the user area.

I can select all by "Mark All" but pressing delete then doesn't work. It doesn't prompt about any copy protection. Deleting all of the phrases one-by-one works, I ran into no copy protection there.

I think there could possibly be a maximum for how many "All" can be when deleting, a max number of files, which is kinda humorous really. :D I hope it doesn't affect moving or copying thou, I haven't had the chance to test that yet.

Presets are easily copied with the Librarian yes, but how about the livesets and studiosets?
How should we combine livesets and patches from different Projects to one new Project. I personally need this for some upcoming liveshows and I bet a lot of users need that, compile a liveset.

I think what we need is some simple instructions for the common user.

Looks like I was right about my suspicions.
Everything that can be accessed by the new "so-called" file system function is only files, not content within files.
This means that we have no access to patches, whether single, livesets or studiosets. At least I haven't been able to transfer patches from one project to another. All we can do is transfer only the whole fantsnd.svd file, which contains ALL sound data. This is USELESS to me.

Sorry but I can't find any serious use in that. Consider being on the road and wanting to make some simple transfers from one project to another, without the use of a computer. Well just forget it, you simply CAN'T do this, YET.

and if you move a single patch won't that affect the live set it's associated with (if it's associated with one)?

my other question is kinda simple.. what is the purpose of the ac. piano, and electric piano, etc... live set if only the first patch is triggered? isn't that the same as using a single patch?

also does roland actually update (make better) the preset patches? or the user patches only?

so, you can transfer phrases but not the sounds which might go with these... mmm... how great Roland! I hate to see the g going down in it's original design flaw. Better luck with the next workstation Roland.

jabberwocky, who told you the phrase contains any sound information? They're just MIDI notes. Really have no idea why you like to be pissed some much.
