Thanks for posting that here Art. I would have never knowned otherwise. Even if I suscribed to the Roland newsletters, I did not hear about it! I tried and it works really great with Windows 7 64 bits!

Thanks Again!

Thanks ! It works for me too. After over 3 years being 64 bit (on Vista, and now Win7), finally there is a driver for the Fantom X .

Is it the same driver as for Fantom-XR?
if yes, watch out...
After booting the XR, instaling the driver, and rebooting the PC, the fantom-xr start showing the menu in mirror (see the picture inside the attachment).
Even if I have reset , reinstall the OS, use it as factory settings (no RAM, no CARD, no nothing, user preset or something else), the fantom-xr is now sometimes showing the menu in mirror, or the menu is frozing on a page, and the buttons still working and saving'/loading for another 5-10 minutes, until the module is complete frozen.
No midi, no usb conection...
After 20-30 minutes after the powering up, the module is now frozing.
I am still waiting for an answear from Roland Support (my case, Romania).

I highly doubt that the new driver is responsible for what you are seeing. I installed it and I also own an XR and I have no problems. Plus the driver will not modify anything in the XR, it is just an interface for Windows 7 to talk to the XR so I would really doubt it created the problem.
It is a hell of a problem though, I feel sorry for you and I hope it'll never happen to mine! And I'd be curious to know what Roland has to say about it if you ever get info from them. So please post it here!

Hi cminor,

I also doubt, that this might be a driver problem.
I have the same problem since about a year. (Vista driver).

If you get an answer from Roland, please let me know. I got none. Neither from Roland, nor from the local service partner.

realconcept - was it WIndows 7 on 64bit? I used 64bit (but after this problem and after the big Bitdefender crash "troian fake" , that erase almost my entire hdd when I was eating lunch, I sold my licence to a friend and quit the 64bit ).
juergen - sorry to here that , did you manage to repair it?

No, I didn't.
I tried a lot of configurations to check reproducibility. In every situation the display freezes (in various states) after some time. Maybe it's an electrical problem (a grounding problem, or something else...).

After a year, I got used to it.
Editing works well with the editor.
And making the changes persistent at the device,... , well, meanwhile I manage to push the right knobs without controlling it on the display ;-)

Hey cminor. I have been using Windows 7 64 bit with my Fantom XR since December and I never had problems. But I did not try the editor since. I'm almost afraid to try it now because I don't want to screw up my beloved XR!

Well, maybe it is the Editor...
Especially that it does work with System Exclusive, and that CAN mess the O.S.

Hi folks,

I just updated a system to Windows 7 64-bit. Fresh install from scratch. I installed (or tried to install) the 64-bit Windows 7 drivers from the Roland site, but it keeps saying they are not digitally signed.

Has anyone hit this? I've tried running in Test mode, and using the signing tool DSEO - which has worked successfully for a number of other drivers, but not for this. Any ideas?

Kind regards

Derek Jones.
