On one midi track, I had a kick, snare, and open hat loop going.
It was all kick and snare, I just had an open hat at the end before it looped.
so I decided to start sequencing my song and arranging my various phrases that I had, including this one. I wanted to edit this drum loop phrase with the ERASE function, just to create another phrase with the open hat only, so I can start the song off with that phrase, and then have it go back into the full drum loop I had already created, kick, snare, and open hat.
When I did ERASE, I changed the name of the new phrase to HIHAT, and did a save. I dont know what happened next, if I forget to leave OVERWRITE enabled or what, but it ended up overwriting my old phrase with the kick, snare and open hat loop, to just this big empty phrase and the OPEN HAT, which is what I wanted, but saved to a different phrase, not the same one.
So now I have to re-create the phrase again which is a pain in the ass cause it was fairly lengthy. My question is that this phrase that is overwritten and only plays the HIHAT, still appears to have all the other midi data saved, this is my assumption because the phrase still has the original waveform in the picture, and when I go to microscope mode, it still has all the data of the snare and kick, but yet they dont play. I noticed the only difference between the HI HAT that plays is in the Part Group it has the GREEN letter I or roman numeral 1 whatever it is, yet all the other data only has the yellow letter E colored in. Is there a way for me to toggle the other sounds back to GREEN letter I, as a way to "UNDELETE" the mess I did? And can you tell me what step I missed along the way to successfully create a new phrase from part of the old phrase, keeping the amount of bars/measures, just leaving part of the phrase empty. Thanks Im on version 1.20 by the way, maybe the upgrade will add an UNDO? haha
Editing Phrases and Microscope mode
Re: Editing Phrases and Microscope mode
If you WRITE a phrase, you can only save it to the same location, this means you overwrite whatever you had saved there. You should go to Util Menu and choose "duplicate" to create a variation of your phrase.
Re: Editing Phrases and Microscope mode
thanks Artemiy, nice job on the micromanual by the way.
what about the Parts Group observation I made, it seems all the data I erased is still there in microscope mode, yet the sound is not playing. would I be able to somehow toggle that to bring back all the sounds I had erased

Hi Lunitunez!
The 'I' that you see stands for 'Internal' and the 'E' for 'External'. You should be able to transfer the external data back to an internal format.
Follow these steps -
I would start by noting the MIDI channel sent by the 'External' data under Microscope view.
*Choose 'Edit Phrase' on the phrase carrying the external data.
*Choose Modify[F3]
*Select #8 Change Channel
*Set your 'Src Part Group' as External
*Set your 'Dst Part Group' as Internal
Just a note - Remember, you can also choose your measures and key range to modify if you wish.
If you are working with percussion, chances are that the 'Src Ch' setting of both your source and destination channels should be set to 10.
Hope that helps!
