Audio Track Expansion Kit

Post by kelvin marsh »

I just recently bought a brand new Roland Fantom x6 from Ebay and it was pre version 2. Where do I purchase the FAN-X-UP1 Audio Track Expansion Kit. Thanks in advance.

I'm not being funny but Version 2 O.S for the Fantom X has been around for a couple of years now and the fact you got it from Ebay sounds curious, are you sure it is brand new?

I wish you luck in finding the Version 2 update Flash card as they're pretty rare now. Someone here did have it but that was some time ago.

Good luck.

Greetings Roland Clan,

I'm brand new to the world of Roland. I've been a Korg user most of my life, and I recently took the plunge and bought a beautiful used Fantom X8. The funny thing is that this thing appears to be running the original OS. I've been doing a lot of research on this 2.0 upgrade, and I'm now trying to track one down. I see a lot of posts from other users around here that makes me think this upgrade must be somewhat difficult to find.

From my limited understanding of this upgrade, surely once you've run the upgrade, you're done with the hardware, right? Does anyone out there have one for sale right now?

I promise if I find one in the near future, I will gladly resell it or lend it to any other Fantom X users that still need it.

Thanks!

Ok, I'll call Roland US. You know, as a faithful Korg user, I'm used to the manufacturer being absolutely zero help, so calling them directly is a bit of a new concept to me. :)

Thanks much, I'll report my findings when I call Roland.

Just got off the phone with Roland US, and you were absolutely right. No sweat... $55 shipped. He indicated that they do try to keep the upgrade kit in stock, since they are aware that there are still a few of these pre-v2 machines floating around out there.

I'm curious, what is so special about the memory card that contains the software upgrade? Is it impossible to copy to another card so I can help the next guy on the forum that needs the V2 upgrade?

Thanks,
Russ

You cant copy them unfotunately as it has some sort of protection on it.

You could sell it no problem and get your money back though especially to the UK or other European countries as it's almost impossible to get hold of them.

I borrowed one from a member of this forum who kindly sent it from the US to the UK. I installed it and sent it back.

The licence doesn't allow you to copy and share so the forum wont let it occur. Perhaps post your city, Korgboy, and someone might share the original with you.

That upgrade is cake, and I must say some of the patches it added are super cool. The upgrade definitely exceeded my expectations.

Anyone out there that still needs the upgrade card, mine is up for grabs. I'd like to get $30 for it, to recover some of my $55 cost.

Thanks!

KorgBoy,

I might take you up on the offer, $30 for the upgrade, if you still want to in a few weeks. I'm shopping for a used x6 right now and most can be had on ebay for around $800-$900, but don't include the upgrade.

The ones auctioned w/ the upgrade are going for like $1000-$1200. I thought the upgrade must cost a few hundred extra.

Now I'm certainly glad I read this thread. If I can't get it through Roland, new, I might want yours if you still want to.

email me @ jgk381@att.net.

Thanks

Hi Russ,

Do you still have your Audio Tracks upgrade for sale? I have a Fantom X8 running O/S V1.0 and I'd really like to update it.

Cheers,
Allan
