how do i layer differnt sound on the same track or even on different tracks ?

Actually, the purpose of this forum is to share our knowledge and experience. And yes, you asked a question that many of us have discovered the answer to, because it is fundamental to the reason we wanted a workstation in the first place.

But.............................the very essence of the quick start manual covers the basics, and the basics have been gone over so many times here.

So beyond the quick start, there is the FAQ section of this site, and the tutorial section of this site. So part of Loz's message is you've got to wrap your arms around these fundamentals, 'cause they're the common ground from which we all learn the rest of the million tricks these ponies are capable of.

The quick start quide is an excellent tutorial. It isn't a manual as such.

Surely it makes sense to read that first (it won't take you long), then ask questions if you have a problem or are confused about a particular point.

Perhaps then, you could also be more specific about what you are trying to achieve.
Do you want to layer multiple sounds on the keyboard for live performance?
Or layer multiple sounds track by track in the sequencer.
From your question I am not sure which you are implying.

yes loz, i want to layer multiple sounds track by track in the sequencer! you know (trk1 drums )(trk2keys) (trk3bassline)i want to know how to add different sounds on (trk2) without changing the first sound that i put on that trk? hell right know i'm kinda confused?(lol) does anyone here have aol aim ?

The simple thing you probably are not doing is switching to performance mode

You then have 16 parts which (basically) line up to 16 tracks.

You select the patch (sound) you want for each part in the performance.
Then select a part, and record that into the corresponding track of the sequencer. WHen you press record - it asks you which track.
Then select another part, and record that into its corresponding track.
and so on

I really do recommend having a quick look at the quick start quide - it is quite good at taking you through this process.

KingBeats, just hit MIXER, then use the left and right cursor keys to walk through the 16 performance parts, and use F1 [Patch List] to select a patch for each part. When you have several patches you liked selected, use the REC button to enter the record mode where you can also setup recording loop, recording quantize and other stuff. When you select a part and hit REC, sequencer track number is set to perfromance part number you have last selected. But you can override this by manually selecting a track - this way you can write any parts to any tracks. Note that it's not necessary to set up your performance before recording, as you can change things during/after recording your parts.

Hope this helps. But as Lawrence said, open the Quick Start guide - I don't understand why you don't want to do so, as it has everything explained and even pictured very briefly and you'll catch up really fast.

click on the mixer mode, choose parts view, the check the k on all the sounds that you want to play , all the checked marks are the sounds that will be layered. choose sounds to mod. patches..........
