connecting motif xs rack to use in the fantom g6 16 channel
hi guys. im looking to buy a motif xs rack and i would like to no when i do can i use the external 16 channel mixer to play the motif rack. in 16 different channel of sounds. thanks hope people can help.
Re: connecting motif xs rack to use in the fantom g6 16 chan
yes you can. when you have the motif rack in multi mode you can access the 16 channels via Fantom G's live mode or studio mode. You just have to go to the external section of those specific modes.
on the motif rack xs you can access all 16 channels on each individual channel or you can access channel 1-4 (layered) all through midi channel 1. (there's an option on the rack xs to do that)
there is also a way to access the 16 channels of sounds via single mode but it's a little different and you can't really get to all the sounds all at once. (just single)
let me know if I can help you with anything else.

thanks for that. i no this is abit of silly question now i said im buying one but are the sounds totally different on the motif rack or mostley the same. i was only buying for better string and piano sounds. thanks
Re: connecting motif xs rack to use in the fantom g6 16 chan
it's not really a silly question.
there are some sounds that are extremely similar. and some that are are extremely different. the bread and butter pianos, eps, strings, stuff like that are not just way way different... but then again they are.
You will be happy with both, but like someone told me a while back... if you are not sure if you need something, then you probably don't need it.
does that make sense?

Hey Apex, you have the ES don't you? I am thinking now also of purchasing the XS rack. Do you happen to know the differences over the ES? I really don't need the XS but GC only has this one so I tried it out, it was great.
I do agree that if you question yourself about the purchase, you don't really need it. I was just looking for the acousitc sounds.

I have the XS Rack. But the only reason I got it was because the price was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE... .(but it WAS TRUE!!!!) I got it for around how much I was looking to pay for the ES rack.
I would have been fine with the ES rack. From what I've heard there is not a HUGE difference in the sound quality. And if you already have the ES that it didn't make enough financial sense to upgrade to the XS. But if you didn't have either and $$$ was not an option get the XS. But if you can get the ES, you will still be extremely happy with it.
There are tons and tons of XS vs ES threads and discussions out there. There are some differences in features. But if all you are after are sounds... then just get the ES. But if you are one of those people (like me) that won't ever be able to forgive yourself for purchasing old technology when something more recent is available... then just get the XS. Less headache. and you'll be completely satisfied.

Wow, we are so alike. I am thinking I would not be happy purchasing older technology. This weekend GC has them on sale for $1299 but they sent me a coupon for 15% off so I am considering going ahead and getting the XS. The used ES on EBay are going for around $700 - $800. So for around $350 more I could get the XS.

I bought my Rack XS for $550 (shipped)
but dude you can get an XS rack for less than $1000 off ebay... well maybe close to $1000

Hello,
I´ve yesterday bought the yamaha S90xs which has the Motif XS-Sounds plus a new piano.
Fantom G and S90sx (or Motif xs) is a unbeatable combination.
Perfect and inspiring bread and butter-Sounds from the Yamaha (Piano, Organs, Strings, Brass and so on) und very sexy- Synth-Sounds from the Fantom.

What a deal! Thanks Apex, I am on the hunt.

Is this a new piece from Yamaha?
Re: connecting motif xs rack to use in the fantom g6 16 chan
I made an offer for $950, let's see what happens.
Re: connecting motif xs rack to use in the fantom g6 16 chan
pj. I think I'd be willing to let mine go for about that much. I think I'd be just fine and happy with the ES... I think... I'm going to do a little research. Let me know how that offer works out for you... maybe we can work something out.
Re: connecting motif xs rack to use in the fantom g6 16 chan
Thanks Apex, I am waiting to hear. No one around me has an ES. I sure would like to try one out before committing to an XS. I have everything hooked up in my project studio except this one piece. Thanks for all your help.
