kenchan:
How does this piano sound compare with your V-Piano?
I think you should compare the two sounds, both played from the V-Piano's keyboard. ;-)

I don't know if it is only my enthousiasm, but it compares really good with Galaxy II Steinway piano that I use with my DAW. I think that the FG's filters give it a really good character.

Cyclops- I have another version ill be uploading today/tomorrow that specifically emphasises the 2nd and 3rd layers to make it sing.

The VPiano has tons of precise dynamics and tonal color change so I can't get it to that level, but the new version I will be uploading is quite smooth and the sound soars (sings) well in pretty much all registers. Considering we all use some sort of compression for recording where dynamic range is somewat limited, I think I got it to fillup the range well. :)

For piano players that have the G8, I think you're going to like the new one. :p

Ah, since I see piaknowguy commenting on the new piano:
piaknowguy, how do you think this piano compares to any piano you've tried on your X8? Meaning the stock pianos AND those found in SRX expansions?
Is it of equal quality, better or worse?

I'm very interested to see your opinion about this.

Ok, here is my latest and greatest for this piano. i luv the european sound. it is just a piece of art when you play ballads and some jazz piano on it.

The main emphasis is on dynamics and smooth sample layer switching. the piano soars in the middle registers and actually sounds somewat like my V-Piano...not quite, but hey, i think this is the best G8 piano thus far. :p

i want to recommend that the master compressor be set like this so that you dont block the dynamics...

Hi: 20/50/-38/1.80:1 +4
MiD: 30/151/-22/2.5:1 +3
Lo: 63/151/-20/16:1 +6

Kens Real Grand version F. ENJOY! thanks again for boricuaroland. cant have done it without his hard work.

EDIT: my wife was playing with it and said she had a hard time controlling the softer notes, so if you encounter that, go to:

TVA/Level Velocity Sens
Tone1 use +20
Tone2 use +26

should smooth it out for ya. :p

I like it Kenchan. Of course I turn off the EQ for my Bright Piano needs.

If you have time and don't mind me being lazy....
Can you give it a little more dynamic range for my G7?

Thanks! ;-)

This is getting good enough for me to consider using yet...

madahorn- i dont think this piano was meant to be used for bright setting...well, i think boricuaroland wanted to do that on his patch but this piano is more elegant sounding so you might be better off using one of the factory piano's(?). :p

Here's the version with the softer piano's coming out easier for some folks. also the release have been slightly adjusted for a tad more realism.

if you LIVE this with the hammer off, im using volume 100 for the Kens GrandF and 57 for the hammer off.

Probably yes...but I do like fooling with it...

It does sound pretty good to my ears with no eq or somewhere inbetween, however.

I may have to try it with my bigger PA speakers to see how it would sound live.
My little 5" monitors may not be doing the trick. ;-)

Did you name the last two patches the same on purpose?

madahorn- yes i did do that on purpose... because i change versions when the core sound changes... the velocity setting and release is really up to the user's touch and preference. if im able to play this piano on the G7 (i need to get dimms) i will most-likely change that velocity setting first in TVA and then go from there.

also if one was playing with the PFX, i think i would leave the 200hz and 315hz alone but maybe lower the 400Hz down a few notches depending on your room modes.

the sound parameters all change with the EQ in mind, so if you remove the PFX, then you will want to adjust the TONE volumes, TVF LPF2 setting, and velocity switching range in TMT. they all play together. it's not one adjustment... :)

Why don,t we sample V-Piano?
That is possible and very easy to do!
