Using the sequencer [video]

Post by Hanzus »

Here's a video of a song I sequenced this week with my Fantom G6. It's one of my fav movie soundtrack songs all time, Training Montage from Rocky IV originally by Vince DiCola. I wanted to try recreating this piece on Fantom since I'm liking the great synth sounds on the original track and the song really has a cool vibe.

I transcribed the song from scratch so there might be few off notes and chords every now and then, but overall it sounds quite accurate. Everything you are hearing is 100% done with the Fantom G. I created the drumset from the initial sets, and I'm still liking the easiness of Drum Kit designing on Fantom. I've tweaked some patches for this one, but I'm also using some presets.

Let me know what you think. Hope you like it.

Very nice track, I love the drums : very 80ish :)
Did you enter the toms/snare fills using the step recorder or by hand ?
Is the master section active ?

Great work!

Thanks for the kind comments!
All the drums were recorded by hand. It's the most comfortable workaround for me. The master section wasn't active when I resampled the audio.

Great work! I love Vince DiCola's work too... have you heard any of his stuff from the original Transformers movie? Awesome stuff.

Fabulous work, great arrangement! :-)

Just a question from me too:
What camcorder and software did you use for capturing the audio along with the video?

Thanks guys!

I haven't actually heard much other stuff from Vince Dicola. I've just been a fan of the Rocky IV soundtrack.

This time I recorded the video and audio separately and combined them in Windows Moviemaker, since I haven't purchased any proper video editing software. The audio track is direct resampling from Fantom G. Sometimes I use Zoom H2 recorder to capture the audio when I'm making videos. Of course, same could be done with computer, but I don't have any DAW because I noticed that everything I need can be done solely on Fantom G.
