Hanging notes
Hanging notes
This is frustrating and irritating. The notes hanging all the time. I have "Locall Off" and send from Motif keyboard trough Sonar DAW to Fantom sound generator. If I change the track in Sonar, like go to another (audio or midi) track or simply change MIDI out to Motif ot something else, notes get hanged. Not that it is something I never experienced- its unnoying but it is a reality. It just should not be every minute reality- it doing it too much. It would not cut note OFF by playing same note again, not by changing program or bank- it only stops if I go to studio mode, and still not always. I had to turn Fantom off and start it again, load the sound banks again, and then my Sonar would not see it as USB MIDI, I had to stop everythin I am doing and restart computer, and 5 minutes later it was hanging notes again. That is nuts- I have no time for it. Any experience? Thank you.
Re: Hanging notes
Hey Guys,
I see no-one recognizes this problem Astral describes but it is a serious issue for me as well. completely out of the blue I experience this kind of behavior as well and it kills creativity!
Is there a specific setting in the system which can cause this problem?
In my setup I have connected the Fantom G to my MPC and the MPc is the boss. Is that the problem maybe?I really hope someone has an idea.
Regards,
ensemble

Re: Hanging notes
Arghhhhh I wish I had screamed and cryed before because it is really killing.
I have no patience to wait for a response and actually it scares me that no-one reacts because it makes me feel it has to do with my own setup or something which I am almost sure of is not the case. This behavior is not constant and changes track bty track. is it because I can't use the machine multitimbral, off course not, is it because I send msb/lsb messages from the MPC to the Fantom? well if that's the case than what's this machine worth. Grrrrr
Really very sick of this problem. I am going to call support but I am not sure if these guys at Roland are good in service, we'll see.
BTW I am really starting to think that this is a system bug. Only thing I want to know now is how to find a workaround.
Excuse me guys.

Re: Hanging notes
Is the Fantom in studio mode or single mode when you do this? just wondering if changing the midi channel on your DAW or MPC while in single mode is mucking it up?
Re: Hanging notes
It's in Studio mode tranztek. And maybe you are right. Cause when working on a song it happens regularly that I change the midi channel in one track. Maybe I should just use one template and never change it. Actually I do have a template now but what I do is creating extra new tracks when that is needed per song so in my template I have one part on the Fantom used which correspondents over midi channel 1. When I want to use more parts, I create new tracks on the MPC which correspondent on midi channels 2,3, and so on and I create them on the go. Maybe it's better to have a template of 16 tracks pre-configured on the MPC on 16 midi channels which correspondent with 16 parts on the Fantom and never change the midi channels anymore while working on a song? I will try this later. I hope that's the solution then.
Thanks anyway for your help!

Re: Hanging notes
yah, definitely work with a basic template and dont change channels in your sequence.
im old skool and use cubase AND external MIDI interface to connect up to 8 boards x16 channels each...well, i only have 2 synths hooked up so i never use that much data.
it has been rock-solid reliable for the last decade.
and having the PANIC button on external interface is always a nice thing.
they should include a panic button on the next fantom system upgrade.
