Song Size in bytes (.SVQ)

Post by lazeeboy »

Is it static or dynamic? Silly question? No, seeing as the actual song resides in phrases it's very possible (likely even) that the song size remains fixed: 195 KB (199.776 bytes).

So has anyone seen a larger/smaller .SVQ file on a Fantom G with version 1.30 installed?

Thanks

Well, but the song does contain triggers for phrases and samples in the tracks, right? This means it's size should increase at some point, even if the initial song contains some "padded", fixed space for this kind of data.

No one? Come on! Just mount your USB drive and have a look in \[projectname]\SEQ\SNG\ directory and tell me if the .SVQ's differ in size of not please.

Thanks

209KB.. 214KB.., etc. So yes.., there are .SVQ larger than 195KB contained within factory OS 1.30. Not smaller than 195KB apparently though.

@V-CeeOh: Ideed it's part of my hacking quest ;-)

@keysme: Thanks for the effort: "Back to the drawing board" for me then. Problem is the name of the song is embedded somewhere at the end of the songs I had. Perhaps that's still considered the beginning though.

Would you be willing to run my latest Information Tool on your Projects with the larger song(s) to see if the name is successfully extracted? I'll post it shortly here ok? Thanks.

@Lazee are you trying to reverse-engineer the MRC-PRO file format (SVQ)? I seem to recall there was documentation for it online at one time but I could be mistaken. I think its Roland proprietary (isn't everything?).

Let me know if you make any progress! There are several useful utilities I'd like to write for SVQ files.

@Derek: Share you ideas please; I'm interested. If I make progress I'll surely let you know but it's looking a bit bleak at the moment.

Also, if someone has the .SVQ implementation of the MRC-Pro please don't hesitate to post it or send it to me. I'd very much appreciate it.
